He stepped up in the ncaa tournament when Zion choked a free throw and he got the rebound and put it back to win the game

Canadian team RJ like Olympic Melo is a thing.
He’s dominated everywhere and every level.
He won’t be afraid of the big lights.
That’s gonna go far if he’s the pick for us.
He’s not some untalented low ceiling meathead like people make him out to be. He’s not Wiggins or Rudy Gay.

You know, I live in San Diego and I haven't watched baseball in 10 years. The Padres have sucked for 20 and 162 games of bad baseball is unbearable.

But II started watching the Padres last year (because I knew what they had in the farm system) and I'm enjoying watching a bunch of talented kids like Fernando Tatis Jr and Chris Paddack figure it out. I don't think I'm weird but part of the "fun" of watching this Padres team is we (San Diego) finally have the hope of a better (baseball) tomorrow. These kids make mistakes but they also do **** that make you say 'holy hell, when he figures it out'. So watching the kids play is fun but its also an emotional investment. It build my attachment to the team. You watch them grow make mistakes and develop. Hopefully they win a championship but the "journey" really is part of the fun of sports.

Its those lean/learning years that makes winning such fun.

"Parachuting in" would (obviously) work for may here but for myself I could NEVER love a team of mercenaries as much as I would love watching NY kids grow as a team, develop as men, and become champions.

KD could win 2 championships with NY. He would NEVER be held in the same class as Walt Frazier or Willis Reed. Why is that? The emotional attachment that Knick fans have for "their kids" winning the WC will never be topped by an outsider accomplishing similar feats.

Ask a Warriors fan. Their first ring will never be topped because to them it kinds felt like THEIR accomplishment. They'll take KDs rings too but KD isn't a Warrior like Steph. Steph's theirs. He led them to a championship and for that they will always love him.

The whole mercenary thing just baffles me. What's the accomplishment?

I don't see RJ ever suiting up in orange and blue. Knicks are going to package him to go somewhere for a vet who can fit with KD/Kyrie.

If it were a different draft I wouldn't be interested in trading the pick, but very curious to see what the trade value is right now. can go in many different directions right now, only a good thing.

Between Game of Thrones and the Knicks...what a disappointing week.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I'm stoked about RJ. I hope they dont trade the pick (AD is the only star on the block worthy of #3, and I think the Lakers will be more aggressive for him).
Considering the Knicks last 2 lottery picks were Frank and Knox, I'm thrilled with RJ. (not hating on Knox, but he's got a long ways to go)

He can't **** shoot. 30% from college 3 while Zion drew all the defense. He's trash from the free throw line also. Why the hell would you draft a shooting guard that sucks at shooting? See Timmy for reference.

Am I the only upset we didn't get Zion ? Why does everyone seem so okay with the third pick ? I wanted 2 at the very least

How is shooting 30% from 3 in college on a stacked team dominating? Do you mean he has chucked at every level? 67% from the line? He's mediocre at best. Dump this pick with a **** quickness.

I feel like RJ's value will tank the moment he steps foot on a court again. Even summer league. Everything is magnified now. If he doesn't light up summer league, guarantee you that people will call him a bust...

Can't speak for the rest of you, but math.

60% chance of the 4 or 5 pick

This is a win for the Knicks, especially in a 3-player draft. Especially with the Dallas pick conveying, espcially with Boston getting ****, and especially because he didn't go to the Lakers or Bulls.

Imagine if the Lakers got 3 and we got 4. We'd be having arguments about Jared Culver and Rui f*cking Huchimara.

On top of it, I think this makes it MORE LIKELY that New Orleans trades AD to the Knicks.

All of this

I realize people were emotionally invested in the 14% pipe dream but look at the big picture here

If a doctor gave you an 86% chance of living, you'd call your mom and be like "ma, everything is fine don't even worry about it."

But when it comes to hoops odds, I don't think casual fans really pay attention to the numbers.
