Teams NYK could never trade with:

Nets, Heat, Raptors, Spurs, Utah

~20% of the league lol that's fine... only takes one good trade partner

The revised trade of :

Randle(28), Grimes(3), I-Hart(9), Fournier(18), Sims (2) and 2FRPs (1 protected) for Towns (36) , Naz Reid (13), Kyle Anderson (9M)

*approximate salary in parenthesis

60M going out and 58M coming in so it lines up salary wise under trade rules

Towns (22), Mitchell (26)
Naz Reid (20) , Hart (18),Towns (10)
RJ (30), Hart(10), Naz Reid (8)
Quickley (30), DD(18)
Brunson (35), DD(13)

Extended bench: Kyle Anderson, McBride, Roby

Every position has at least one strong defender either as a starter or a backup.

Thats pretty disappointing, because IQ and a pick should be enough for OG.

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/273266/Knicks-Discussed-Mitchell-Robinson-With-Blazers-In-Potential-Jrue-Holiday-Trade

Mitchell Robinson's name came up in trade discussions between the New York Knicks and the Portland Trail Blazers, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.

Holiday would eventually get traded to the Celtics.

It was reported earlier this offseason that the Knicks are looking for multiple first-round picks in exchange for Robinson.

The Knicks are also reportedly monitoring Karl-Anthony Towns' situation with the Wolves.

He gone????

If they were to bring in Towns maybe theyd rather also have his backup as a strong defender that could play both 4 and 5 like Naz Reid. Get 2 FRPs for Robinson and then have ammo for another trade possibly.

Just going on the reports Buzz....Rumors Minny is questioning how great is the fit of Goebert and Towns after last season and Towns is getting older and his contract is about to explode. They need to pay Edwards too. Better fitting pieces that have good contracts like Randle (a 25 and 10 guy) or RJ that have better contracts could be big enough centerpieces to get a deal done.

If Towns comes in they may feel Mitchell would be better served to be spun for picks and/or another player especially if they can get a guy like Naz who can play both the 5 and the 4 as well as shoot a bit too.

I don't see Towns as better than Randle at this point. Randle plays every game. Towns is a name - but he is injury-prone, suspect on defense, and has a horrible contract.

In theory he is more a needle mover and better fit in this offense with Brunson. Especially if the trade nets both Reid and Towns. The lineup would be much better structured.

Smaller possibility but it could be RJ as rhe centerpiece instead too.

Towns is definitely not my option A.

. but I do think depending on who gets traded in a deal that we could be a moderately to significantly better team with him.

We made 6 games in to the 2nd round with basically a non existant Randle. Sub out Randle for KAT and Naz Reid and that potentially is a big difference

I wonder if there's any way we could extract value helping facilitate a Harden trade. I don't see much else out there right now.

I would like to maybe get in on the bench depth.
Fournier + future protected 2nds for J. Issac

Isaac could play backup PF minutes.

Seems the easiest trade with our breaking the bank on potential big moves in future or assets to improve the team

Isn't that the problem, that he could play but doesn't?

He's played in 14 total games since January 1st 2020, nearly 4 years ago, and even before that, he's been in the league for 6 years and played 147 total games, less than 30 a season

I get he was good at one point, but I can't trust he'd stay healthy for any length of time

It's like how Lonzo Ball played less than half the 2022 season, missed the entire 2023 season, and is already ruled out for 2024. He was good when he played, but he isn't gonna play.

Yeh, I agree he hasn’t been able to stay healthy.
I think it’s low risk move considering Fournier isn’t going to play either. And he has the extra year of contract that could be used in a bigger trade as filler also.

IQ for OG, straight up. I know it’s the raptors but this makes a lot of sense. Not sure why everyone is so willing to give up a pick and sell IQ short but he’s on par with OG skill wise.

Two protected picks for Kuminga. Maybe they can find a use for Fournier but contracts won’t match I don’t think.

Return to New York Knicks
