Herb gave us all he had from age 34-40, except for a game with the Raptors (We sent him to the Raptors in a trade when he was 37, but they waived him a week later after one appearance and we resigned him). Unfortunately, his all was an average of 2.9ppg on 43% shooting.
Yeah I love Herb like a wise old familiar uncle.....With Buck he was a classy dude but still tough and just played the right way, Playe d hard til the end. I remember an amazing block on Jordan ...but I cant find it anywhere on the internet.
I watched Buck a lot when he was on the Nets, and even on Portland, and he was always a favorite.
Even his last two years with the Knicks, playing limited minutes off the bench, his total rebounds, blocks, steals, and assists per 100 weren't too far down from his career averages.
Looking up his stats just now, I was also surprised at how high his FG percentages were. He was a 55% career shooter, never had a season under 50%, and had two seasons over 60%. Relative to league average, he had an FG+ of 115, a FTr+ of a whopping 157, and even though he didn't shoot threes and was a poor foul shooter, his TS+ was 109. And that included a steady diet of post ups, not just opportunistic dunks, layups, and putbacks.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
Yesterday I was lying; today I'm telling the truth.
