He's going to come back fat and out of shape like usual and get hurt in April/May too.

The way Ian phases it, I think the fat and out of shape concerns is being factored into time table.

The was pretty much the biggest concern for the team...our big man depth is weak...I know everyone watches Jericho Sims offseason work out tapes and gets giddy...but when he lost in P&R coverage and can't protect the rim people will go back to realizing why he's a dummy.

This is the one spot we are weak in and our starter is a ticking time bomb due to injury.

Heh, ain't no one getting hoodwinked by Sims. It's always going to be one of those wait and see approach. The only thing that'll benefit Sims right now is that he knows he's guaranteed minutes from the get go.

I know Precious is going to step up. And I think for the most part he'll be fine because as far as front court is concern in East, we're really only looking at Joel and Bam. Brook plays outside more than in. Not sure there's anyone else out there in the East that'll put size as a concern.

For the regular season?

I think they can sustain Mitch’s absence with the good wing depth alone, because we’ll likely go small and be more switchable.

If anything I think this forces thibs to be more open to smaller lineups this season which we saw our Achilles heel was those 2 big lineups we put out there that killed our spacing and gave up way too many threes.

Find a Mitch replacement or backup by the deadline and put Mitch on a minute restriction when he comes back so he can be relatively healthy come playoff time.

Relying on Mitch was always going to be a problem, he's completely unreliable. I would say they should have traded him at the deadline, but I'll cut them slack since he was hurt like usual and nobody was going to take him, and I doubt anyone was going to take him while he was hurt this summer too.

They miscalculated with him, even if he comes back in Jan you realistically cannot trust that he's going to be available May/June. He should be viewed as the backup C moving forward, and they need to unload him the first chance they can find a sucker.

Zero interest in Randle.

Figured NYK wouldn’t want RW3 because of his perpetual injuries, thought maybe Reath for a couple SRP might work for both sides.

I just hate the idea of waiting for mitch to "get healthy" even when he gets back do we have any confidence he will be able to stick around for any length of time.

And yes I'm sure the regular season we can mostly get by if Thibs really does buy into the small ball lineups and not just run Precious and Sims out there for 48 mins.
