KAT isn't KP on defense - which would've been hard to believe before they got drafted - but offensively they can be used fairly similarly. KAT's a 7-foot, 40% 3-point shooter and he's going to play with a dynamic point guard for the first time in his career. The pick-and-pop with Brunson could be deadly.

Unless Mikal forgets how to shoot, our offense should be hard to stop if they use KAT as the screener. My only concern is the lack of ball-handling on the roster with Divo gone, but we have so many efficient outlets and such a space offense that the offensive output should be impressive (assuming they stay healthy).

The key question I think is can Thibs find a scheme where OG and Mikal can cover for KAT's lack of defensive awareness. I think Thibs is actually a good coach to have in this situation because the challenges lie mostly on defense.

Let's not forget Minnesota were the #1 seed in the West for weeks with KAT and Jimmy before Jimmy got hurt. The fit should be fine, I think health is a bigger worry (across the roster).

You know damn well I’ve watched KAT play. I watch all NBA teams, not just Knicks games.

KAT has his flaws but shot creation is not one of the things we should be worried about.

Yes his level of physicality and toughness have come in question. But that wasn’t necessarily the topic that I was responding to. Jim asked about his shot creating ability.

I would've done whatever to dump RJ as long as we didn't drop IQ and benched RJ so he'd stop losing us games/stayed healthy while we looked. We should've benched RJ in 2023 and started IQ.

Trading for OG when he had all the leverage to make us pay literally twice of what he's worth is dumb. We literally only did it because OG's agent is out team president's son. Nepotism at its most blatant, $212 million for a player worth closer to $100-120. I remember when we were thinking he'd get $160 and calling that an overpay nobody saw $212 coming besides Leon and Sam.

RJ and IQ don't even play the same position, so your argument makes no sense. The OG trade turned the Knicks season around and the Kat trade complete their transformation to be a real contender against the C's. Losing Donte hurts but they needed a 5 in a big way after losing Hartenstein. This is an A grade just to be able to clear Randle as an addition by subtraction.

I’m not too sold on his shot creation. His scoring is always down in the post season. Only averages 18 PPG. That year with butler he averaged 15 PPG.

That’s what I’m thinkin. We all know he’s got flaws, but considering he’s coming back home to play for his fav team, alongside a bunch of warriors we got here, and being older/more mature in a 2nd round with Thibs, I think he’s still got room to grow at 28. I mean, Jalen took another step last season at around the same age, so it’s possible. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Kat is 28...He can start fresh in NY. He can embrace Thibs defensive philosophy...Most people cant or dont evolve/grow- they stay the same. Maybe Kat wants more...I'm going to give the 28 year old the benefit of doubt that he wants to build off of his positive accomplishments

kat's shot creation is basically a pump fake at the 3 point line into a drive into the paint that leads to an offensive foul like 33% of the time, super unreliable in the playoffs
