This is a championship level team, if not this year then next year we should be considered a favorite after we fortify the bench.
We have some issues but I'm still optimistic we're better than our record shows, similar to Dallas.
I think Brunson-KAT could be the foundation of a historically great offense, not just a top 5 offense in this year's NBA. But we need to take more 3s, and Mikal does need to fix his 3-point shot. If not, I think that Deuce should start over either Hart or Mikal to inject more 3-point shooting into the starting lineup.
On defense, we rely on Thibs and on our wings to mask Brunson and KAT's weaknesses, which aren't gonna go away. We need to see more adaptability from Thibs with more switching and more contests on 3-point shooters, and also ideally an increase in defensive intensity from both Hart and Mikal.
I think we top out as an average to slightly above-average defense with some improvements in those areas. But I believe we're not close to our offensive ceiling, and our offense could be overpowering to the point where defensive mediocrity isn't particularly relevant. But we're not there yet.
We need Precious back and possibly a move on the fringes for a guy who can be trusted for 10-15 minutes per game (what Shamet was expected to be I suppose).
