They should do pretty well, no top tier talent but the second year players should do well.

The fact that I had to make this thread a day after we drafted him and no one cared to make one yesterday.

I dont think I've ever seen this in 20+ years on here. If we get a player in the draft, he gets his own thread. Period. Usually we have more than one person making a thread out of excitement.

I feel like there is something going in psychologically with this forum. It's not normal.

Also, with regard to NYKMentality, I don't know if it's just part of his twitter gimmick, but he is angry every single day over Thibs being fired and the positive NYKMentality we used to know no longer exists.

This guy needs to relax and take a sedative. Having complete meltdowns online for the world to see about Thibs being fired while trashing the front office is ridiculous. There's nothing NY about his mentality. Throwing a fit like a child is hilarious to me.

We won't have McC unil we work some Aller magic. He has a 2mil cap hold and I'm pretty sure ALL of our cap holds will be released soon. There's 30+mil in cap holds we have to handle. He's on that list.

If he ever plays 10 mpg in a regular rotation role over a full season, that's fantastic for where we drafted him

What do y'all expect?

20 years old, 6'8, 7'4 wingspan. Has defensive chops?

That's a lot for a coaching staff to work with if the kid is willing to do the hard part in the gym.

The second round rookie scale is probably still a lot of $$ for this kid. Heck, it certainly would be for me. I'd live in the fuqqing gym for that.

Lmao his tweets are wild

FWIW, his points are correct. Unless Rose is playing 3 dimensional chess, moving pieces we can't see (manipulating other coaches/hirings, just outright colluding), our management right now looks clueless. I will concede that end-of bench guys want a chance to play, and even starters are amenable to playing in the 30's rather than 40's. But you don't want to ring chase with the Knicks if you basically will never plan, and at most, will play in a 30 point game with 2 minutes to go because he doesn't trust anyone with a 20 point lead.

In regards to the kid, what makes him any better than jacob Toppin?

He has great physical attributes, but overall lacking in skill. It's fine for a 51st overall pick. There really is no such thing as a bad 50+ overall pick.

What angers me is us trading from 50 to 51. We got draft rights on a player. What was that really about?

Hope the kid does well, Sims and Hukporti both were pleasant surprises. Thibs develops big men well, so that's not a huge surprise. Maybe the new guy or gal develops wings? Maybe we hire a really good shooting coach?

Here's my issue with this kid and a guy like Pate...The Pacers and Thunder are always picking guys who can shoot it from deep plus play defense and that's why they have such a deep rotation because those are the skills that translate into the NBA even if you don't ever develop playmaking or middy game. Then if a player does develop any of those other skills it's a bonus.

Knicks have brought in a couple of young guys though that have impressive measurables but have to hope they can figure out how to shoot. That type of prospect is a lot longer away from contributing. At least 3Pac was shooting the ball and giving energy on defense, there's a baseline of usefulness for those things but waiting for someone to develop a 3ball isn't what the Knicks need.

I hope this guy can develop but man, there's plenty of players every draft that never develop touch from deep in a way that impacts the floor in an NBA game and it's rare there are any that develop it. Shot doesn't look broken but it wasn't going down at a respectable rate and none of his splits look that good, they actually look kinda crappy.

Why is it the Knicks FO refuse to bring in guys who can shoot the lights out and play some defense, they always lacking in one or the other. That's no way to build the modern NBA roster otherwise you have players that are a liability on one end or the other and only 5 players are on the court at a time, there's no platooning. Teams need two way players with that 3&D baseline now.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

I trust Dadiet's scouting skills on this one. If he ever plays meaningful minutes, great. If not, oh well just a 51st pick...
