For some reason HOWIE "BUTCH" KOMIVES deserves a place on the list.

By the way Howie played 65 games with the KNICKS in 1966-67 and ONLY started 4 games. Yet he AVERAGED 35.1 minutes. How is that even possible???

And yet … a Knick with a really hot girlfriend. Not a bad trade off.

I'd forgotten he was a Knick. I'm sure I rooted for him in 2017, but that was a while ago.

Apparently, his wedding drew national attention in Lithuania.

Awesome (great player of his era too)

So named because he loved to drink soda pop, which he called sweetwater.

Butch and Walt Bellamy (Bells, another decent nickname), were traded to Detroit for Dave Debusschere (the Butcher), the trade that freed Clyde to start at the point, and Willis Reed to move from PF to his natural center position. Everything fell into place for the Knicks who went to the ECF in 69 then won the title in 70.

Another nickname, Jim Bad News Barnes. Drafted #1 overall by the Knicks in 64, played decently for the Knicks before being moved around the league. Willis Reed was drafted in the second round that year, which motivated him to come to camp and prove he was better than Barnes.

The nickname Bad News was later transferred to Marvin Barnes of Providence and the ABA. Probably fit him better.

Kermit Washington I always thought was a cool name. He also injured Rudy T. with a punch. Oak for Charles Oakley always seemed fitting. Travis "Third Leg" Knight never caught on but if you know you know...
