Interested in seeing what you do with that team.

I can't wait for my picks though...hopefully the rest of these guys bang out their picks in rapid fire since the rounds meet.

Are you taking a dig at me? I think I can execute my next pick off just fine. If not that's okay I'll throw another wrench into this. Hopefully my plan can last up to my 7th round pick. I have feisty guys on my radar.

Naw, I'm genuinely interested. Having a pick at the end of the first round blows (and even in the teens since all the "franchise" players/first options are gone) and you're the only one who has shaken things up.

Yeah I even traded down for a lower second round pick

Funny thing about the pick as I was watching guys get snatched up and was updating the Google Doc, something caught my attention about the rosters of all the teams thus far. So I looked at mine again and told myself why make a safe move when I can actually do something somewhat difficult and acquire another player bringing my total to 4 starting caliber point guards in which 2 of them can play 2 guard while fitting my uptempo vision. 2 of them are pass first and the other 2 have an itchy trigger finger so they should mesh well if I can settle on a depth chart. Since I had a pick around the corner I figure plug him in here see how the interior decorating looks with him here and if it looks off, make it back up with the next pick 157. You have no idea how I tried to make trades to provide chances for others. My team is still young. My Cap is still looking marvelous and neither will be compromised moving forward I don't believe.

I'm not sure how competitive this team will be but we'll see what happens if I can make good on my next 3 picks.

A prime example as to why GMs should never name drop because you never know what the next GM is thinking or where he's headed with his roster.

Dang my PG options are dwindling down fast.

I'd like to move Mayo to SG but I guess I'll keep him at point.

Yeah, he wanted to dump Ray Allen but I have no need for that dude. He's too similar to K-Mart (redundancy)

Someone is going to backup K-Mart at the 2 spot. We'll see if you get somebody better than Ray Allen.

It's not about who's "better" it's about who fits. I'd prefer to get an althletic slashing SG to backup K-Mart

I went and traded down to get that stretch 4 everyone said my team needed. Getting Frye allows me to push Hedo to the 3. Thoughts on my team so far?

Washington Wizards - Build a Team 4.0
C: Dwight Howard
PF: Channing Frye
SF: Hedo Turkoglu / Vince Carter
SG: Arron Afflalo / Vince Carter
PG: Chauncey Billups

Still unsure about making Carter 6th man or Hedo or Afflalo.

Miami might be looking to trade its 6th pick down for extra picks in the 7th and or 8th round.

Considering how gimp K-Mart and Granger have been and the Simming on the players I don't see how Ray Allen doesn't fit playing alongside Rubio. But go ahead and make the pick you're up.

So like a 6th and 9th for a 7th and 8th?

I guess that's half the fun right there...the gamble that goes a long with building your team. I could've easily selected the player(s) I wanted with the pick I traded to 2010 but if you can judge player value and understand how the minds of the other GMs work than doing such trades or making such picks isn't so much guesswork as it is a science...but there are certainly surprises out there from time to time.

Did St. Knick miss his pick again?

If so, the next guy on the Waiting List is elig iable to get his Team if he wants it.

Who? What? Where?

Frye's fine. We rip on him but he's a talented player. Better than most of the other guys left. Especially if you're looking for a stretch four. He's a terrific compliment to Dwight Howard and the rest of your team (see post below). Sure there are better players but they've already been picked (so they weren't available). The rest? Your team is a great position of being both a playoff contendor as well as being still relatively young overall (i.e. you're not the real life Boston Celtics here), no reason to invest it in a old stretch 4 (there's a couple left) or a guy that really isn't a real stretch 4 (if you're looking for someone who can hit the 3) in the age/style range of your team or a one dimensional stretch 4 (there's some of those left) or a 3 imitating as a 4 (some of those too).

Example...

Mareese Speights (taken a few guys after you) is a talented player and might be considered a "stretch 4" but his shot is inconsistent as is his game. It's a great fit for 2010's team (since his is more centered around potential guys in a more uptempo style) but not really for yours.

IF the goal was to select a "stretch 4" (basically a PF that can "stretch" defenses...preventing them from collapsing their defense in the paint or on the guy driving the lane...and who can pull opposing bigs away from the basket...hit shots from 16-18 feet out pass the 3 point line) Frye IS THAT GUY. Not saying that that necessarily would have been the need (as many apparently told you it was) but IF it was FRYE is perfect for it. And with Billups and Turkoglu being terrific facilitators in getting the ball where it needs to be quickly and accurately, and assuming Carter is in the starting lineup, Frye should have an absolute field day in terms of open looks (like he did in Phoenix).

I already posted my comments about Frye (it's a good pick and good fit for your team).

I think to really get the most out of Turkoglu (especially considering his contract) you need to start him and have him feel like he's part of the offense. Bringing him off the bench really zaps a lot of his strengths (which is helping to faciliate frontline players, which, with Billups, will make your offense really zip well, smooth and efficient).

I probably would have gone with someone else beside Afflalo though, doesn't really seem like a fit for where your team is at and the mix of players you have (especially after drafting Frye). A more slashing type SG that can get to the rim and finish would have been better with Turkeyboy and Billups running the offense (which surely will result in a lot of no alley-oop passes for easy baskets dished out).

Frye and Turkoglu (who's also a terrific outside shooter) is enough, you don't need 3 outside shooters just because you have Howard. You need an guys that can get him the ball on the move and in the right spots and time (something that the Magic has failed to be able to do with Jameer Nelson at the helm...as he's more of a scoring PG). Billups AND Turkoglu should be MUCH BETTER at doing that. At which point 3 3 point shooters is overkill.

Carter MAY be that type of player but he's not quite the guy that he used to be and is noticeably slower (by a few steps) than when he was in his prime. But if I had to choose, might as well start Carter. He's a lot better at drawing attention from opposing defenses which should open up Frye on the perimeter and Howard for some easy one's in the paint.

Afflalo is a nice player with very specific skills that he's extremely good at but I would look to move him if I were you. Plenty of teams could use a talented young big SG that can shoot from deep on their team.
