They also said that in addition to Memphis, Walsh might be looking to bring in a 4th team to facilitate a deal. We have to give Randolph+filler(Rautins) to Minny for Telfair+Memphis' 1st rd pick....

New York: Chandler+Fields+Douglas+11' 1st rd pick from Memphis via Minny+Curry+Azubuike
New York: Melo+Birdman

Denver: Melo+Birdman
Denver: Mayo+Batum+11' 1st rd pick from Memphis+Curry+Azubuike+Cunningham

Memphis: Mayo
Memphis: Fields+Douglas

Portland: Batum+Cunningham
Portland: Chandler

Maybe our 2nd rd pick to either Denver or Memphis, and maybe some cash considerations too. That's a hell of a fair deal IMO for all teams. Portland has enough $ to extend Chandler, and they need scoring as well as defense from the sf position and Batum is still pretty raw offensively.

We'd be left with...

Felton/Telfair
Walker/Mason
Melo/Williams
Stoudemire/Gallinari
Birdman/Turiaf/Moz

What does that accomplish? Why not just wait till the offseason and sign melo straight up? We don't lose fields that way. This trade does nothing for us, hence a bad idea.

Melo simply wont sign with NJ. I think he would play next year without his early opt out then leave. If Melo was willing to go to a bad team wouldnt the Wizards be on the table. Hour from his home. But they arent even in consideration so why is NJ even in conversation.

Denver reeks of newness in the front office and NJ reeks of desparation. Pretty soon NJ has to move on. They need to make a move and if Denver isnt game they need to play ball with another team.

We aren't trading all that for Melo people. C'mon. You really think Walsh leaves Billy f*cking Walker as our starting SG?

Chandler is an RFA next year and Gallo is an RFA the year after and Gallo's QO is approx. 2 million more than chandler's.

Now if Gallo wasn't due a new contract for 3 or 4 years sure I can understand. But the difference in when a new contract is going to be given to said players is one stinking year. Gallo's cap hols would be higher in 2012, his salary next year is more expensive than Chandler's QO, and his QO is approx. 5 mil. in 2012. So their savings would come in 2012 maybe. Nobody knows for certain what kind of contract Chandler is going to get next year.

gallo is not a rfa next year

chandler is a rfa THIS YEAR

Of course donnie is going to deny the report right now because he can't talk about other basketball players to the public or he get fine.

i think its funnier that walsh was reachable for a comment tonight concerning this exact rumor. seems odd that walsh would even acknowledge this rumor...

i wouldnt read too much into it. Walsh always keeps it close to the vest and this would be a great way to keep things cryptic while they hash things out. I think it's more likely that MEM has gotten back to the knicks and said that mayo is available for the guys you got available and no exact names have been discussed THAN walsh telling us the truth or this deal being anywhere near complete

Ujiri and Kronke feverishly working those blackberry's. Source says they texted the following:

"Thank you Leon Rose. Give my best to World Wide Wes"

is there any way we could get melo and lawson in a deal...buike, curry, douglas/rautins, ar (pick), gallo, moz. How would the cash work out? I would think with lawson on a rookie contract they would have to go with rautins and mozgod. maybe they put bird man in as well?

Like Kane said. When the Knicks are in the rumor mill either 1. The trade is Old and Dead or 2. Walsh is working the phones, doing work.

Starting to believe Melo would sign wih the Nets BUT only as a fall back plan.

Theres a reason why he hasn't completely ruled them out yet like other teams. If it's Feb.24th and the Nets got an agreed trade with Denver and we don't...he's going to NJ.
