Come to think of it, Felton is the perfect Tank Commander.

Lowry ain't the answer though. He's stupid too and is not a true PG. He's just like Felton, he's playing better now though. The same **** we hate about Felton, Kyle does as well.
i would rather deal with his expiring contract, than felton's contract for 2 more years
So who's our PG next year? I bet you we re-sign him. Then we will be stuck with Raymond Jr longer than we would have been stuck with Raymond Sr...

Gentlemen's bet, nothing really on the line other than an Itoldyaso. I bet the Knicks don't deal THJ at all and only one of Shump and a pick that is protected. Dealio?
I don't gamble, I'm not in the Knicks FO. But we're getting another CAA player and trading two that aren't.
Fair enough. I admit that we have overpaid and no reason to think it would stop. But this is Mills' first trade if it goes through. I'm comfortable predicting it's only one young asset/pick and it won't be THJ.

Lowry is better than Felton, without a doubt, but I'm against giving up Shump in this deal. Shump isn't playing well right now (guess what? no one on this team is!), which means his value is lower than it ought to be. Moving him now, for a guy who is going to be a free agent after this year anyway, is not a very good return on our only asset.

I get that we like Lowry cause he's new, but he's not going to do much for this team.
That's not true. He's a decent passer, and he's a good defender.
I've watched him.
He gambles a ton of defense, which makes him very poor in rotations. He also fails to run the PnR roll and really struggles to make passes into the lane. He's an improved Felton.

Compared to top tier he's lacking there. It's true. I think we can all agree he's better than Felton though we are all just disagreeing how much better...
Like I said, he's in the 2nd tier. And at the top of the 2nd tier. Felton is like at the bottom of the 4th tier.
Ehh I'd say mid second to third tier. PG position is stacked these days...

Sign Lowry in the offseason if you must. But he would only help our record next year which is bad (tank that year).
This should be about 2015 and amassing assets. Giving Denver a pick means absolutely nothing at this stage of the game. If anything, Denver will occupy a lottery spot that otherwise would go to an Eastern Conf team.
A man has a right to change his mind. Forget about it. Let Ray come back and see what he can do.
ray is out for the rest of the month though
the knicks are focused on 2 things, making the playoffs and keeping carmelo. it's not a coincidence this happened right after the ray injury.

He's better than Felton both on offense and defense. Nobody is suggesting he's an elite pg but we can't get one of those.
But it's a marginal upgrade that doesn't make sense. It doesn't fix anything wrong with this team. All it does is deplete this team of the small trade-able assets they still have.
Huh, you don't think pg is "wrong with this team"? And it's not a marginal upgrade; would you like me to rattle off every single statistical category Lowry is dominating Felton in this season?

I've been watching him since college too. He's as good as you're going to get at PG (on defense).

Nothing earth-shattering here, but I've been told that Iman Shumpert's name has come up in the #Knicks trade talks with TOR for Kyle Lowry.
how surprising
It is clear the deal we are offering is Shump and Felton.
I don't love this trade, but I don't hate it. Upside is Lowry thrives with Melo and lives up to the potential people thought he had in Houston. Downside is he's really just not that good. But let's be honest, Iman Shumpert has been one of the most disappointing parts of this Knicks season and his value is way down. Tough sell but at the end of the day i'll accept the trade, I don't see Shump turning into a star. Although compared to what we could have gotten for Shump in the summer this isn't great.

JR is actually the perfect Tank Commander. His chucking ability and low iq would be the perfect match for what the raptors are trying to do.

Keep Felton. Play him and Lowry together at the same time when Felton comes back.

He isn't fixing the team's "pg problems". Lowry plays the same way Felton does, shoots the 3 and drives to the basket. He struggles actually passing.
It's marginal in a sense that you're getting better at something you already are good in, but not improving in the areas where you desperately need it.

Quick Questions for Knick Fans:
If word got out that Dolan turned down the Lowry trade because they wanted Shump how would you feel?
Also what if we trade Felton and THJR for Lowry instead of Shump?
Just trying to see people's general opinion

Re: Raps trying to trade us Lowry...
kill me for saying this but I would rather give up a semi protected 2018 first rounder.
hear me out....even in the knicks worse of worse years (led by curry and crawful, and nate). We still didn't get in the top 5 where the difference makers are. So at our worst we never were a big time lottery team because Dolan never believes in tanking because he wants to win as much and sell seats later.
I would rather keep shump and wait till hopefully he starts playingn better and increasing his value.
does that make any sense.
