well it's not guaranteed that his value goes up if he gets playing time. we'd most likely lose and he'd get manhandled by most starters in the league, i think 2 2nds that could end up being pretty high is great value considering not many people outside of knicks fans don't think he's very good

Monk sucking right now doesn't mean WHG nets anything close to that type of player, a highly touted rookie in the middle of his rookie season. I don't think this is a good trade or a bad trade. WHG has gone from underrated to overrated. I'm not going to celebrate the deal or say it's the worst thing ever like I am sure some posters will do. WHG is an absolutely atrocious defender and he's been overrated by this board to the point where people were actually expecting a first round pick for him.

The 2nds can also be used in trades. People wanted picks, we have a lot of picks now. And our drafting has actually been a strong point. It's a minor deal, let's not make it out to be a major one.

People wanted 1st round picks.

2nd round picks are useless. They are thrown around the league like candy. And as I mentioned earlier, there's a reason for that. Having an abundance of them isn't something to brag about.

This trade sucks all around. WHG not being a good defender has nothing to do with this trade not being bad.

It’s a good trade. Willy was overrated on this board. He came into training camp fat and out of shape, and in his minutes he was not productive and got dominated by players like Dakari Johnson. He also demanded a trade. 2 second round picks is perfect. Bye.

OF all the teams interested in hernangomez this was the best we could do? Because Jeff doesn’t like him? I can’t wait two years from now when Willie is the center piece of a nice team and Jeff is out of the NBA. Perry and Mills why would you do this? Seems like spite was involved. Knicks were supposedly asking for a 1st rounder or a young player.. got 2 2nds and sent him to Charlotte who has even more bigmen then us

pretty much my feelings...look like perry panicked and wanted to rid himself of a player that was not happy he wasn't playing...he made the easy move just to move him instead of the right move to wait till his value got better.

thats my problem.
Being a GM has 3 aspects
1. Savy business mind
2. Identifying players with potential
3. Putting players together to form a cohesive unit

Just from a business perspective, this is a wrong move.
Why trade when his value is down.
It is conceivable that his value could increase if he were given playing time. Why sell low? That's poor business acumen

If we had the gall to ask for Monk in a WHG deal they would have laughed so hard they would have died. This is why people are bashing this deal. Ridiculous expectations.

Here goes our fan base once again overrating one of our players. Willy just wasn't very good. Last year was fool's gold. Similar to what Shump and Fields did in their first years. He simply overachieved.

He is a terrible defender, which basically negates his skills on the other end of the floor. And yes, big men that can't spread the floor and play no defense aren't going to fetch a lot of value.

God some of you guys live in a fantasy land. There's no way to build a player's value if he sucks every time he's out on the floor. He was given a few opportunities this year and looked terrible. If you're a good player, you should be ready to be called upon whenever you're given the chance.
