Of course a fat check would change a lot of peoples mind if Rose really wants him.

thats whats scares me especially if Rose really wants him he probably will have some say in player decisions. I wonder if he will push for trades to get more vet pieces.

Yea, either way it is up to Rose to figure out a plan and hire a coach on the same page. The Knicks need a lot of work and will not turn this around quickly. Hopefully they realize that and can accept losing for at least another year. Focus on the draft and development while bringing in some better fitting pieces that can compliment the younger core.

That is where Atkinson seems to make sense cause he did a good job with the younger Nets and maximizing their value.

His act might not play well w/ younger players (as we saw in MIN) and his teams consistently rank toward the bottom of the league in 3PT attempts; he hasn't adapted to today's spacing

Hire Kenny Atkinson; he's proven he can develop young players in today's game (and he had less to work with in BKN)

Also, pretty sure KAT hated Thibs.....and isn't KAT supposedly on the Knicks short list of stars they'd want to acquire if they ask out? You'd think that's something Knicks brass would care about considering they seem motivated to land a star, tho I still think they need to focus on drafting/developing (and maybe a star signs in 2021 or via trade w/o gutting the team)

Is it younget players or loosers?
Jesus christ kat was loosing before tibs and after tibs. He will loose with different coaches because he doesnt care.

agreed, KAT was part of the problem. But it's been said that Thibs isn't the easiest coach to play for and that vets seem to like him better, so idk if he's a fit for this young team

My bigger issue w/ Thibs is his offense; his teams consistently rank near last or last in 3PT's attempted

Going back and forth on this. I think if Thibs is the guy, he’ll need a strong staff of assistants that can advise and guide the youth, while also helping him adjust.

Everyone remembers when Coughlin came to the Giants. You gotta learn how to manage your locker room and adjust with the times.

Just my opinion if he does come here.

if we do hire Thibs, Miller has to stay on as head assistant. Also go get me Lavine.

Mike Miller is a poor man's Thibodeau, so I don't care if he stays or not.

We are hiring Thibs 10 years too late at this point.

Thibs passed my interview

Hopefully we dont fall into pressure from fans and media and sign an low key unproven coach like Kenny Atkinson. (Yes im aware he went from 0-100 and he had one 42 win season)

We should stay away but we won’t.

First things first we don’t have many pieces to fit the defensive makeup that Thibs wants, nor do we have the offensive pieces.

If I remember he runs a variation of the triangle, you need playmakers most importantly. The only player that fits that is RJ and he’s not even a great one (I like him as a playmaker tho). Perhaps Frank could work in a Ron Harper kind of role, need a Jordan & Pippen tho.

We have so many positions to fix on this team, it’s a nightmare.

No offense but he really didn’t say anything in this interview except he’s learned some things these last few years. It was a empty calories interview.

He already won me over weeks ago Tbh lol but the fact that he understands load management especially to older vets, can get rid of that narrative that he burns his players out.

Maybe but as of right now we aren’t a team of vets and unless the steam ahead on that stupid, stupid CP3 deal we won’t be any time soon. Him pushing the youth’s minutes will just be called development if they start to produce.

Other guys well known for short rotations:

JVG
Pat Riley
D'Antoni

And that was just a quick hit list of guys affiliated with the Knicks.

I'd rather a coach who goes with 10 men, but obviously the 9th and 10th guys not seeing that much time.
It's also a matter of how minutes get distributed in blowouts, where there is an opportunity to rest guys, give others run

Isnt that what we all wanted tho? For the young guys to get mins and develop. I also think Frank could thrive under Thibs. Not sure about Knox but RJ and Mitch could def have breakout seasons.
