We hired Walt Perrin to improve our hit rate in the draft in order to keep a pipeline of cheap young talent available with the outside chance of getting lucky and hitting on a diamond in the rough.

One might argue that Reggie Bullock is no longer a Knick because Quentin Grimes is.

That's a over simplified way to blame everything on Carmelo . Let's all pretend all the bad trades and signings didn't happen

Given who were rumored to want in the draft it seems as though they were always targeting a replacement for Reggie and another potential ball handler to understudy Rose and Burks.

I don't think they ever had any intention to bring back both Reggie and Burks

When was the last time we could stay the knicks built anything? Last time we were good it was for 1 year then everyone retired then Mike Woodson got fired. If anything they are telling me to trust the process. We will have the same team with positive additions, same coaching staff, and same FO. I was upset but its ok to be proven wrong. Choose to roll with it until proven wrong. We have all our picks and young players to dangle too.

I'd love to be wrong and see this team in the conference finals. I think it would take several plane crashes for that to happen. But perfect storm for us barring Embiid and Giannis running into each other and breaking their legs.

Kemba plays 70 games at 25-30 minutes and miraculously stays healthy
This lets Rose continue the 25 minute bench role and he stays healthy
RJ makes the same gains he made in spot up shooting and adds the ability to make a layup in traffic off a close out
Julius doesn't get hurt from his coach playing him 40 minutes and he can become a league average efficiency player with better creators around him
IQ shoots 40%+ from 3 while being good defensively and anchors a really strong bench with Rose, Toppin, Burks and Noel
Mitch is the dominant FG affecter and makes All Defense ... he looked like he'd solved the stupid foul problem at start of last year before the freak injuries, and he's healthy going into the playoffs

One of

Miami
76ers
Bucks
Hawks
Celtics

has an injury and we don't.

Was against signing on for a Julius Randle-led team after the first round flameout, but this isn't so bad. It's a team-friendly, highly tradeable contract. Worst comes to worst, the Knicks take steps backward, they can probably find a way to move Julius (assuming he's healthy) and get something good back.

This wasn't the dream for the offseason but it's a sensible alternative that doesn't prevent the FO from making moves in the future.

Keep him as developing backup and then trade?
Just keep Obi if he improves?

I'd say develop Obi for a year, then if he improves, maybe there is a large trade he can be put into at any point in the future.

nedleeds wrote:And thus the plan is

Sign Bledsoe to 4/70 million ...
Trade 50/40/90 club member Malcolm Brogdon for a pick incinerated to get the Holiday deal done only to have him sign a 4/85 deal ...
Then trade for the difference between Bledsoe and George Hill for 30 year old 1 time all-star in the last year of his deal Jrue Holiday. In addition to giving up two starting guards you also gave up 2 1sts, a 3rd first (R.J. Hampton) from the Brogdon "trade" and 2 pick swaps for when Giannis is in Los Angeles after demanding a trade.
Then give up another 2nd rounder for **** up the Bogdon deal and getting absolutely nothing.
Sign Bobby Portis as your 6th man (?).

The nedleeds plan to not win a title.

Leon/WWW/Perry SUCK BALLS!!!

Knicks just resigned an All NBA player for cheaper than John Collins, Derozan and Jimmy Butler… yet you’re mad
Image

All NBA feasting on inefficient numbers....getting most minutes in the whole league...during a Covid shortened season. Do the math... it'll be 5/130+ and Collins got 5/125? How is he making less?

I like the way he played this year for the most part. I'm not mad BTW...I expected this. I just figured you would want to sign stars with your cap and not role players. I would have traded him last year AND this year. We have ZERO top tier players on this team. Hope we get some to play with our newly signed #3.

You guys are too easy.

As opposed to alternative of what the Knicks are doing has worked tremendously correct? One playoff win in 10 years and you’re content with the moves of the current regime right? Stop sounding like a condescending douche when literally every championship team in the last 20 years has had at least one home grown superstar. Like what im saying is objectively crazy or something. Hit on draft picks?? No way Im demanding way too much.

Roster continuity doesn’t mean ****. Look at the Nets..look at the Lakers. They had young talent they moved them for superstars and they had cap space to sign superstars. It literally happened right next to us. Why didn’t we get KD or Kyrie? Because they wanted to collectively screw the well run Knicks or was it Bc the Nets actually hit on their draft picks and their surrounding talent was better? Regardless of how you feel about them, the Nets were attractive Bc of that. The Knicks are building a team that’s destined to go nowhere relevant.

see that’s the problem with y’all obsessed tankers. You think there’s only one way to skin a cat. And the Nets haven’t won jack **** and might not ever. Foh

Lol you know how I know you’re wrong? When you don’t mention any other point..Lakers ..Every championship team having a homegrown star, and you focus on the team that didn’t win a championship in their first year together as if they’re not infinitely closer than we’ll ever be. But I’m done lol wasted too much time.

Why do people act like Randle hit his ceiling already?

If he proved anything last season it's that he can expand his game and ascend to another level.
