Re: Knicks - Pelicans PG: RJ CAME TO PLAY
This is the breakout game we wanted to see from RJ. He showed flashes of how good he can really be. He just needs to keep working.
Look at Miles Bridges. Guy has really elevated his game in year 4. RJ can take another step this year and an even larger one next year. One step at a time.

Re: Knicks - Pelicans PG: RJ CAME TO PLAY
So guyz - remember the other night when RJ put up such an egg in the Orlando game? He was putting up all these little floaters that were juuuust off and he ended up flipping the **** out and going back to the locker room when it wasn't falling.
That was his test run of the new skills. We weren't supposed to lose that one but think of it as a battle/war sort of thing. He was doing some stuff in-game that he hadn't really done before. To my eyes, he was getting those shots off in balance and with good space but just missing. The shots would eventually fall. And here we are. Really, it started in the Bulls game and tonight was the expansion pack.
We soon will reach the stage where defenses game plan for these new skills and he'll have to figure out how to mix it up and still be effective.

Yall weak. lol
I can't imagine there is a single person who was a trifecta. Kemba and 4nier are still ??? But RJ...? He had swag after last year. The team is actually a team though. Blue collar type shyt. With a real HC. NONE of us have ever had this in decades!
When was the last time you had this much fun as a Knicks fan?

Re: Knicks - Pelicans PG: RJ CAME TO PLAY
Finally getting to watch the game in full.
Noticed it in the Bulls game, really notice it here:
RJ has really improved that dribble drive move from outside near the corner 3, and he drives all the way into the paint and has either a running hook sort of thing, stops for a push shot, or takes an actual jumper, finally, there's even a kind of layup. It's like the move starts the same way but has 4 different endings.
Sorry, but someone said RJ drove the ball last year, but how RJ is driving the ball this year, and it's probably both his practice and the none Elf spacing, but this is a huge jump.
Like, on the order of after 10 games last year he just started making 3's.
And the pull up jumpers.
It's like a switch got turned on. Breen and Clyde said he's looks much better but the shots weren't falling. I'll take their word for it.
But, big difference over the last few games and it's not just about the points.

I missed this game, fortunately, but this post goes well with the one I just did. Which I posted without seeing yours.

Yup, I was just gonna make that comment that our posts saw the same progression. It started vs. Orlando.

the bench play in general has been off. I dont think one things changed from last year. They should be excelling
They have the same players but they have the changed the philosophy completely. IQ and Burks are the ball handlers with Obi/Rose being spot up shooters. IQ and Burks don't look for others, so offensive sets are one and done terrible shots. Add to that that Quik barely looks like an nba player this season and you ahve our current result. Honestly Rose needs to be the primary ball handler and to quit this IQ PG experiment. Dude just doesnt have that skillset

I was thinking.. come deadline and buyout market.. who do you guys think will be available? Pacers look like they are imploding and have some good players that will cost you some picks and players.

Just a marvelous game by the kid. It was really impressive. It was the type of game that you say is this the official break out game where he goes from nice player to even the face of the franchise. It was that good.

I mean seriously... does he have a future here? The way Rokas looks. Grimes seems to be legit. Then there's Deuce but more than anything- he's playing really REALLY bad. Imo, it started in SL... trying to become something he's not. I don't like what I'm seeing
I think theres just not enough basketball to go around on the bench unit, Rose dominates the ball, Burks is a ballhog, theres not enough basketball for IQ on top of that. He shows last year he's not a great off-ball player, maybe he becomes one someday but not yet. I think we need to think about getting rid of Burks for the benefit of IQ. I really wish we kept Bullock instead, Rose/IQ/Bullock off the bench fits a lot better.
I would agree that Burks becoming the defacto point guard means no one else gets the ball, but Quickley actually has a higher usage rate than Rose, so if anything our 2 most selfish players dominate the ball the most on the bench which is to the detriment of Obi.
Yeah... it's pretty sad that they don't really look for others as opposed to themselves. But I honestly don't miss Bullock either. He couldn't create for others or himself. Imo Grimes should be getting burn. From what I saw from him during preseason and SL, he gives us the shooting, passing and ability create for others and himself. Right now, I'm so over IQ and AB

A guy I think is worth a look is Terrance Ross if IQ and AB continue to play like crap.
