and we'll most likely resign him too. then we'll be stuck with him for another 4 years. rather live with randle's regression and hope he gets it together (lately he's been good averaging 25 PPG in his last 5 games)

We could not have beaten the Pacers offer. If Julius was playing like he did last year? Then maybe.

But Randle has completely cratered and become one of the least efficient players in the NBA. It's that bad. The Pacers wanted a young, established, all-star big to compete NOW, and Sabonis fit that bill. Randle wasn't even close.

So it doesn't matter what secondary/tertiary pieces were being added on the back end, because we couldn't come close to meeting the primary requirement.

I wouldn't trade for Westbrook for any reason that has to do with basketball. It would be about shedding contracts and starting over. I'm not looking at a Randle/WB swap. I'm looking at Randle, Fournier, Kemba, Nerlens for WB, Deandre, etc. If the Lakers were willing to do that, I pull the trigger and let Thibs figure out the rest for now. At that point, at least you know he has no choice but to feature the kids. Go get yourself a lotto pick this year, and start rebuilding the right way. Come summer time, you can start thinking about flipping WB's expiring or even buying him out if the 2nd half of the season is such a disaster with him at PG.
