We are not attracting true stars, not until Dolan is gone and Dolan wont pay max for divas like Durant
Skilled guys like JB is as good as we can get -- not too expensive and good enough to be cornerstones and may be fringe all-star lvl
Just acquiesce yerselves to this reality. While most of us want a blue chip rookie, the ballclub doesnt want to go into that direction where tanking is needed

I'm still on the championship wave, I just understand waiting on superstars with nothing but a hope and a dream isn't how this works.
You mentioned Simons, he was RFA, you want Donovan Mitchell, he's not on the market, you wanted Ivey, the Pistons/Kings weren't trading the picks. Every option you've mentioned wasn't obtainable. We could still end up in the lottery with this move, which is perfectly fine, at least we'll have a PG so we don't have to pray 1 will fall to us and they don't.
We’ve got a backup quality PG on a max deal. The fact that you just admitted that we spent 100 mil on this one player with possibility of still being a lotto bound team tells me I’ve got nothing to celebrate here. You go party your butt off though
I will tell you this, I like Brunson way more than the other signings especially the Randle and Fournier signings. I’ll easily root for him to succeed but expectations aren’t going to be low. They treating him like a superstar well now it’s time to live up to the hype. Let’s see what he’s really made of
He's not a backup quality PG no matter how much you try to say he is, I had no change of heart with him, I've liked him for awhile and was in previous threads about him defending how good he is. I admit I don't like how we had to get him, we should have kept space open last summer which would have allowed us to keep the lottery pick, but that's behind us now and I'm happy we finally have a starting PG.
De'Aron Fox has been in the lottery his entire career, us not making it to the playoffs wouldn't be an indictment of Brunson, it's simply understanding we need more than what we have. You'll change your mind about him, he's efficient and hits people with hesi's nonstop, you being HEZI it'll be impossible for you to turn away.
I was having these same convos about Fournier last year when folks got hype about us upgrading from Bullock. Brunson is slightly better than Fournier but not by that much. This isn’t the signing you are hyping it up to be.

He’s not a backup point guard. He’s clearly a player that if you put in a scenario to do more he will give you better numbers. I guess he will have to prove that this season but it’s a pretty safe bet.
I don’t think anyone is treating him like a superstar, it’s just been a long damn time since the Knicks have had anything at the 1.
He’s come off the bench form more than half of his career games played in 4 years while averaging 16 ppg and 4.8 assists per game in a contract year those are his career best numbers at the age of 25. Those are average numbers for a guy who also happens to be an atrocious defender as a little guard.
I get why we are hype, the thirst is real I get it. I just remember the same reaction when the Fournier signing happened. Folks were so happy to see Bullock gone they thought Fournier was going to be this huge game changer and that turned out to be a complete dud. I’m going to hold off on the Brunson excitement until he actually proves something after this contract.
He came off the bench for Rick Carlisle, and the first season he gets to start they go to the Western conference finals. He has always put up numbers in starts when Luka is out, the stats have always said to play him more, but the Mavs were just as interested in sandbagging his value as they were interested in winning. He's played 44 games without Luka in his career, he averaged 17, 6, 4 on 49% shooting in those games. You'd have a point about contract year if there was a big deviation in his shooting stats between these years, I mean he came into the league shooting 47% as a rookie, he shot higher from the field last year (53%). His jump in scoring and everything else is simply by playing starter minutes.
I hated all the signings last year, I am not one of the kool aid sippers, this is an actually good move for a quality starting PG who has room to grow. This isn't the hill to die on, he's gonna be good here just like he was good there, their loss is our gain and this is a really solid move by the FO to get him. I'd rather have him at that salary than whatever it would take to get someone like Fox.

You couldn’t be more wrong and sound as someone who’s never watched him play or done any kind of research. He’s not a superstar but can be an all star given the amount of usage he will get and at 25 he’s the best point guard this franchise has had in 30 plus years

Wanted it to be descending until I saw a PO in year 4. The last year, which is the cheapest, shouldn’t be a PO. Meh. Oh well.
Not being able to add Evan sucks!!!! How can we get rid of this dude?!?

I hated the Fournier signing, you got the wrong one. Fournier has never had a single good playoff series and was playing for a loser, posting numbers for the Magic that never really amounted to anything. The advance stats love Brunson, and he was the 2nd best player on a team that got to the western conference finals.

Maybe it works out maybe not, dudes make it sound like we gave Rondo the max.
I just saw Multiverse of Madness and in every universe tankers will complain about any move the Knicks make that isnt tanking for 5-7 years

the player option though makes year 4 being the cheapest less likely Brunson will pick up the 4th year and probably opt out
