Let's not forget why Mitch re-injured his ankle and is out and why we're in need of a trade.

Hence why we get compensation. I think that at that salary level we are not getting anyone spectacular. Burks is able to be a low-level 3-D type that as a depth piece (situational, injury) can be helpful.
Payne is a good spark plug, but Kolek is good and Shamet seems to be a guy we have been corralling all year (signed him, released him, paid for him to re-hab on our gleague, and now on the big club)
Koleks passing is reminiscent of Nash(mavs), JWill(kings). Only so many seats on this boat.
Kolek has no doubt elevated his value between G-league and his flashes of elite vision and passing on rhe NBA level.
Is a package of some combination Kolek, Dadiet, 2030 1st round swap and Wash 1st enough for Kessler? It might be, but it would all come down to how much Ainge likes those 2 players.

I agree with the other points, but I am not wasting all of my assets for him as the piece.
It is more time than some of the other options that expire at end of this year. And to me Kolek who I like a lot is not nearly the need an elite rim protector would be to complement KAT at the 5 would be.
Bottomline does Kessler make us a clealry better team in Thibs system than Kolek would who is partially blocked by Brunson? Absolutely.
If you could get Kessler for Kolek and the WAS pick with Sims being the cap filler you do it without thinking about it. You probably also do it if Pacome is included instead of Sims.
With Kessler, you give him Isiah Hartenstein's contract after 2 years, as you beef up for your 2 years in the apron. Given how all in this team is, you have to go for it.
Of course, Utah is looking for high upside first rd picks which is why this is a moot point.

Dawg it no doubt wouldcome down to what Ainge a former guard sees in Kolek. Does he love his court vision and passing ability to think he will be a legit starter and offense creator in this league? If so that is def worth more than a mid first round pick.

However, having not played a single game in a year is a definite concern. We can't realistically expect him to come back now and magically be a difference maker after a year off.

No, it won't be even close.

The fact that there was no brawl when Embiid did that is tragic.
That's really what we need Sims to be out there for. We need a Kurt Thomas/Oak type who will get in anyones face. Portis would have broke Embiids face for sure.

Not sold that Kessler is anything special. I get that if you frame it as SRP, Sims and moderate FRP for Kessler, that's a good value. I just am not in the market to get fleeced.

Isaiah Stewart as an enforcer?

Ogbaji is well-liked in Toronto. He plays almost 30 minutes a game. He is not a throw-in on a trade.

I’ve always liked Boucher, but let’s be real, he’s not even big for a 4 and he isn’t the impact player Kessler, Stewart or Turner would be. Maybe that is precisely why we could get him, as there is little indication or feasibility as to why the others should really be dealt to us. I like that Boucher can block shots and drain threes, so he’d be nice off the bench. I would love to get a better and bigger player though (and honestly Mitch is/was both). Ogbaji is good…
Boucher has positional versatility and would allow us to be a switching defense even moreso than we are doing right now. A few times vs Nuggs Bridges ended up on Jokic. Boucher would be a better switchable frontcourt guy.
The ideal is another elite rim protecting 6'11/7 footer behind KAT but short of that a Boucher or Stewart might not be a bad consolation prize.

Like Channel pointed out, like everyone sees, they need that quality wing to cut into the Bridges/OG/Hart minutes, someone who is 6'7" to 6'9" instead of 6'4" or less, like the rest of the back court reserves

I know I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but why not at least give Chuma a shot to see what we have in him before giving away assets for someone who's not much better? He's 6-7, I believe, and a solid 3&D type. Don't get me wrong, I agree that we have too many non-playable players on the roster as you noted above, and some of them should be moved.

Lance McCullers is back to solve all the backup wing problems!
Knicks can trade Dadiet now
