Russell does cut through the defenders like Ginobli, his shot isn't as pure as Curry though who some people think he's like, but he can get hot any time.

Not Russell's best game tonight. But his talents did shine in spurts.

Of course because he's a left hander.. but the way he flicks those chest passes kind of remind of Kenny Anderson. He's another player that's going to look better at the pro level.

Even when he has a relatively bad game, he looks good. Love watching Russell

Who do you like at 4-6? Beyond Okafor, Towns, Russell and Mudiay.

We have Hezonja, Johnson, WCS, Porzingis, Winslow, Turner.

Hezonja is the best fit with the most upside to me who should be able to play right away. Athletic with skill and size, and hes got some spunk too, so I go with him. Porzingis is a ways off and is scared of the paint. Turner is also scared of the paint while he runs like an old man and has the strength of a 12 year old. WCS is Tyson 2.0, which is great for some teams but clearly not what we need. Winslow, Johnson, and Oubre all look like solid starting role playing SFs down the line but they havent shown enough to be picked top 5. Looney is meh and a tweener. Harrell not worth a top 10 pick. Bobby Portis and Christian Wood seem a little underrated to me, but theyd be reaches. Kaminsky..... nah. Lyles Im not a fan of for us. The PGs Grant, Wright, Jones, and Dunn all look pretty good but we could get one of em with a later pick.

I still really like Russell but I question if he can get to the basket, finish, and defend in the pros. Plus I want to build around a big man, so we're going to need a top 2 pick if we want Towns or Jah. Picking past 4th will likely set this team back years. This rook needs to become a bonerfide stud. Yes bonerfide.

Porzingis bangs the paint, he averages a lot offensive rebounds for a stretch 4 and finishes around the rim. Definately not a soft player. He just needs to add muscle.

Porzingis does not "bang in the paint". He is to weak to do any effective work there against europeans. Im thinking its gonna be worse here. His only post move is the turnaround jumper

Im curious

Ive heard Russell compared to Curry quite a bit but Im not really buying that. Too optimistic

anyone have other comparisons? Ive only seen him play one full game. His passing was impressive but his shot was pretty off. I can't get much from these highlight reels that are almost all positives

He's a playmaker who also has a very good shot. He reminds me of Brandon Roy, or at least that's the type of impact that I expect him to have. Ideally, to be a playoff contender ASAP, I would like to draft him and fill out the lineup some way like this:

Langston Galloway
Deangelo Russell
Carmelo Anthony
Paul Millsap
Robin Lopez

This team core has a great balance between triangle offense compatible players and defense.

Anyone see a little Kyrie Irving in him? A worse finishing, better passing version maybe?

BTW we got a Towns game at 1pm today

And OK4 at 9. I love March Madness.

I agree. Curry was ALWAYS a lights out shooter. His questions were about his size, handle, and PG abilities. He wasn't the guy he is when he first came in. As far as Russell, I don't have a clue. I've only seen him a tiny bit. There sure is a lot of enthusiasm about him, though.

Brandon Roy comparison is a very good one -- I like that better than some of the Harden ones I've heard. I thin Russell is probably the better shooter/passer vs. Roy but Roy could finish better than what I've seen from Russell and Roy though not a great athlete looked athletically superior to Russell in my view.

Strong rebounding game from Towns. If we get lucky in FA and the lottery, KAT may be our fourth scoring option which may be good for him. With his passing abilities though, he still has to be a focal point regardless.
