With Lin being the only one on that team of worth, opponents will be focusing primary on him. Teams this season will have time to practice and prepare for games and set strategy to stop him. Lin will either become a true superstar or a bust.

Jeremy Lamb will be a star.

Yeah I want to read the post-mortem. But I'm pretty sure there's nothing I can hear that will make me forgive Dolan and the Knicks for this.

This hurts because I think this was the wrong basketball move, period.

The one thing we could count on as NY fans was that we would never let money get in the way of signing a player we want. We couldn't count on competent leadership or ownership, but we could rely on the $$.

We waste money on the likes of Jerome James, Eddie Curry, Jamal Crawford, Glen Rice, Shandon Anderson, and dozens of other bums to the tune of $100's of millions of dollars in salary and luxury tax but when a talent young player is GIFTED to us with a huge following and excitement around him and with nice upside at a position we are weak in, we let him walk, not because he was paid $40 mil over 4 years or something crazier, but because the owner was butthurt or because he didn't sign up with CAA or whatever agency.

At best, we just let go of a great player. At worst, we let go of a trade asset down the road.

I won't stop being a Knicks fan, but this was just terrible. My excitement for the season just dropped a few notches.

That's not the only choice... There are others.

The choice of rooting against your team. Ask DocZaius for tips.

JR Smith, Mike Woodson and Knicks owner James Dolan are sitting just a couple rows in front of Rockets brass. #awkward

That's one thing you've said that I can agree with. :)

Looks like a really special talent.

One of the best things about Lin this year was his underdog story. Everyone pulled for him after being cut from team after team. The fact that he performed the way he did seemingly out of nowhere excited pretty much everyone.

BUT if we resigned him, he would no longer be an underdog. He would be a highly-paid player being compensated on par with all-star caliber players (I mean earned all-star spots, not boosted by the Chinese vote). Once that contract is signed, Lin would no longer be the underdog bringing hope to Knicks nation. He would become the highly paid NBA player that must live up to his contract. If he didn't live up to it, everyone would turn on him just like they turned on Amare after he went from an MVP-caliber player to an average player (at best) last season. You and I both know this. It was fun while it lasted Lin. Time to move on.

Lin was a love story with a promising but uncertain ending. But things got complicated in the end and both camps made a decisions that made tough to continue the relationship.

I refuse to trash Dolan and the Knicks because they have assembled one of the most talented teams Knick fans havent seen in a while.

I wont trash Lin he was looking out for himself financially.

Its heartbreaking but its the ugly business of basketball.

Its a shame both sides didnt reach out to each other enough.

we'll see exactly how talented the Knicks are next year. If they win over 50 games.. the Jeremy Lin
fiasco will be vindicated and forgotten. If the Knicks struggle like they did last year.. That fans won't care about the Knicks for the foreseeable future.

The New York Knicks may have reached a decision on Jeremy Lin, but they haven't contacted his camp.
