We not only **** up in the Melo trade, but we **** up by not taking a PG, and who knows if we would have drafted Shumpert over Faried if Wilson and Gallo are here. It's a series of events that led to the shithole we're in.

Gallo and Chandler definitely contribute, you will never get me to say otherwise. But they aren't the reason that Denver is what it is.
Faried has nothing to do with us.

Really? Because Andre Miller for Raymond Felton is pretty obvisous. And Ty Lawson would have been behind Chauncey in their backcourt last season. They trade helped give him the keys in the back court and now look how he is going. Just because you're a Knicks fan doesn't mean that you can;t admit that Denver got a really good deal that has worked out very well for them in that trade. And I understand it's worked out well for the Knicks as well, from a marketing and money making front.
Both teams got what they needed out of the trade. It wasn't a fleecing.
How can it be a fleecing when we definitely improved? Isn't that the end result that both teams had in mind?
Thats fair, I guess I should wait to after the playoffs before making statements like that. But if I'm a Denver fan I'm stoked at how that whole trade worked out. Couldn't have gone much better really.

How do we get Melo and keep Wilson and Gallo?

I completely agree with that. No argument there. They have one exciting team.
I don't think our biggest issue was the Melo trade. I think we overpaid given the leverage we should have had, but we could have easily mitigated that by making better subsequent decisions.

Faried kind of does because we could've drafted him... We could've drafted Lawson also.. it comes down to the fact that if you're going to compare franchises you kind of have to think they have better scouts than we do which in turn helps their cause when your comparing the two franchises which is always going to be done.. until Melo retires the two teams will always be compared and it's not always going to be just the exact moving parts of the trade that are compared either.
As regards to the reason they're the team they are I don't think you can pinpoint to one player.. at least I can't because every point guard should be the most integral part of a basketball team.. so Lawson should be the "engine" he should be the team that makes them go.. but the other guys need to fill roles and also learn to take a step back if it's not their night.

Hold firm and hope Melo changes his mind. Whatever man. This is all hypothetical. The trade obviously isn't working out for us because other than Chandler, we've surrounded him with ****.

I'll tell you this first hand because my brother lives in Denver... they don't miss him up there at all. If anything Knicks fans... the ones that do miss Gallinari.. miss him and a couple of other former players more than they miss Melo in Denver.
EDIT: But that probably has something to do with how he left.

Denver would be a better team with carmelo at the small forward spot right now.

Never underestimate the strength of knowledge.
Bring back the physical game and send the softies home.

I wasn't comparing franchises. I was just debating the merits of the Melo trade in relation to their current success.
Denver has made excellent moves. I have no interest in taking them down as an organization.

And we'd be a better team with Chris Paul at point guard right now.

Nah. They run up and down and their depth helps. Melo would feel weird not taking 18-20 shots a game.

I don't know about that.. because their whole philosophy.. the style of ball they play isn't the style of play Melo necessarily thrives in.

Raymond Felton was the one traded for Andre Miller, no?
Or are you saying they would have traded Billups for Miller?

Re: Around the nba part 6
I'm much more upset at the Knicks not retaining Lin and letting him go for nothing than I am about the Melo trade. As every Knick fan should be. Denver did very well considering the circumstances they were in, of course, and it would have been really nice if the Knicks could have gotten Melo via free agency instead (thus being allowed to keep Gallo).
But Melo, LIKE ALMOST EVERY OTHER ATLEHTE WOULD, wanted the Knicks AND money. Thus, the Knicks had to give up more. It is what it is. I was a big Gallo fan, and still am, and enjoy watching the Nuggets. But the Knicks have still significantly improved, and there is no denying that.
A couple of better offseason moves along with a healthier season, and I bet a lot fewer people are complaining about the trade. Basically, my point is that people are upset at the Knicks struggles and point to the trade, when a lot of the struggles are not because of the trade, but because of the FA moves and injuries that have occurred afterwards.

This.. for Melo you have to build a team a specific way.. similar to how Philly built around Iverson.. eerily similar.

They'd have more talent with Carmelo at the small forward spot. They wouldn't be a better team or have anymore wins.
