I mean, that's the concern for KD too right? Especially after breaking his right foot too a few years ago

VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela

2:22 mark

The knicks are mentioned because the nets are accomplishing everything people hoped the knicks would. Plus the Knicks is still media bait because of how large they are so the media picks at them for fun.

If the Knicks signed KD the media would have 1000 stories about them signing a guy with a devastating injury, how risky it is. When the Nets do it, they are doing things the right way. Make no mistake about it, the only reason they mention the Knicks is because they are an easy target (as they should be for now until they win) and the mentions generate clicks/views.

I mean some knicks haters would talk(they talk anyway) but the majority would see KD and Kyrie as a turnaround for the knicks organization

The nets were laughed at, stepped on, pushed up, slapped, look at what one average winning season did for us and how the perception changed??

Media speaking the nets are way more respected than the knicks even though we started the decade in a worse situation than y’all. We had the billy king trade while you guys were winning 53 RS games.

I hope the knicks make strides this season to prove people wrong and become a playoff team. I crack jokes on the knicks here and there but I’d love the city to be lit with good basketball again. The nets can’t be the only good team in the Mecca. Y’all got dogs on y’all squad with Randle/Portis/taj and RJ seems mentally prepared.

Nets def deserve props. I just felt like calling Juluis Randle a c level free agent was highly disrespectful

I watched him on the lakers and Pelicans. He has a good ceiling. He just has to work on his defense. In the east he can easily be a all star for you guys. I think all the hype was the knicks were going to get stars so of course randle would seem like a disappointment in comparison

The KD injury was a disappointment. But we did the right thing considering his age and the injury. We get to enjoy our homegrown talent and building internally. So no long lasting disappointments.

Just thought about it, this is a guy who shouldn't have been playing right now.

It's mid August, he just finished rehab, and the season doesn't start till late october.

The majority would not see a post-Achilles injury KD and Kyrie as a turn around. Hell, the NYK fanbase in itself was like 50 50 on signing Durant after the injury.

And 80% of the fanbase only wanted Kyrie if it meant getting Durant and 15% did not want him at all. This was before the KD injury. Afterwards, most fans were at peace with Kyrie being a Net.

Just saying, if the NYK fanbase was so split on these two players, I don't see how the majority of the media would be like "great turnaround by the Knicks, they really did it".

Admittedly, I didn't follow Randle's career closely but I do remember when he was with the Lakers that many posters here thought he was was an excellent defender because he could switch easily onto wings. What happened?

He was never excellent. He had just gotten to the point where he wasn't a clear negative. Let's say he was slightly above average.

And that was only when he was playing the 5.

Oh, wait... I forgot... they did get 20 or 30 bandwagon fans and a few latchers-on from Kyrie's old high school back in Jersey. :D

The GB had an interesting thread dividing the top 10 players into team offense and team defense.

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1882785

In a vacuum , I tentatively chose team offense.
For the knicks and this particular knicks faithful, id be hard pressed to not go team defense.

The case for team offense, is that great offense beats great defense.
Also, team defense would lead away from Steph freakin curry, James harden, LeBron in what I feel is a lbj-centric league.

This is what led me to lean towards team offense but a brain twister for sure regarding the knicks needs.
