Rumors have been circulating about this for years though. Fred Katz two weeks ago said the Knicks have always had an eye for towns he and Thibs have reconciled etc. seems like every month someone reports we are interested. CP is at least 2-3 years late

Just want to say I called out the KAT idea after we let go Hartenstein and probably why we haven’t gone after any center replacements. KAT will become our Center with OG and Bridges on the wings. Randle and Mitch will be traded for KAT. We’re building a team to match Boston offensively and defensively (on the wings)

I think Towns is a target.

However, it is tough to work salary-wise. Randle+ Mitch + Deuce + Sims = 50M. Towns makes 49,2. Randle + Mitch + Precious S&T deal + Sims = 50,5.

Its tough to make Wolves swallow Randle if he is UFA next year. Also we ran out of good assets.

Not if Towns is essentially a salary dump for them due to not wanting the penalties of the new CBA. Naz is pretty good and they have two other guys making huge 40+M money in Goebert and Edwards.

Gobert likely declining his player option and will be a free agent next off season. If it doesn't, his expiring contract is going to be appealing to many. T-Wolves are not blowing it up.

It isnt about talent value 1 to 1

It is about locking your team in with the cap situation

Kat is a better fit, doesnt hold the ball, back to basket game, can spot up and shoot the 3 and can play the 4 and 5.

Randle is a good player but he cant play the 5. Requires the ball in his hands. And might cost us 300 Million or we lose him for nothing.

Kat shot 50/40/87 for the season. Yes he choked in playoffs but we have many more options to step up

Possible. But then, you could say that about every rumor.

There is also the possibility that CP is reporting what he knows as fact. That can't be discounted -- especially since we've stopped making moves for some inexplicable reason.

Towns is 2 years younger than Randle. Towns will be making 50 mil next season while Randle will probably ask for 60 mil/per year starting salary. Towns can opt out at age 32 (player option). Randle will be in the 2nd year of his super max contract at age 32.
