Kolek is a pure point. He made the game easier for everyone around him.

Pacome Dadiet's frame and mobility are enough to justify the pick. He defended Brandon Miller well in isolation, though Miller hit some impressive shots. Offensively, he worked well in the flow of things but shot really poorly. Probably a project, but a worthwhile one.

Hukporti has a good motor, good hands, and hunts contact on screens. He tried a lot of moves with touch around the basket, but missed a bunch of 'em, so jury's out on that. Looks like a project, but he has some interesting tools.

Rokas started off terribly, with 3 TOs. Once he settled in, he flashed a nice off the dribble pull-up ability, but not much else. He's got decent size, has to show more.

Obi's little bro did alright. Duane Washington was doing too much, but got hot late. And the euro big from last summer league looked solid again.

Thanks Remi!

thats good to hear on Kolek. He was the best passer in the draft and I figure when he starts playing with better players his impact will be even greater because he is such a natural floor general. Imagine him in the P&R with the second unit with our shooters spacing the floor?

Happy about Kolek. He really rounds out our backcourt perfectly

Just need some Center depth now and we're the deepest team in the league

Kolek was awesome, but of course it this is summer league and it was just 1 game... even if he shows out like a next Steve Nash in reg season, unless Deuce gets dealt, remains to be seen if he can steal some of playing time from Deuce under Thibs' consideration because Deuce is ALREADY a lockdown defender, who's not a stiff offensively... ability to not only knock down open shots but to create, be a threat on fastbreak, and also dribble, break down defenses, and finish around the rim.

Only clear advantage Kolek has over Deuce is passing... that's it. Deuce has everything else on Kolek.

He's gonna have a field day when his options on the outside of players like DiVo. This shoulda been a double-digit assist game for him, based on how many open looks he created. It's only one game, but the performance screamed "NBA ready."

18 year old... dayumm!!

Wait until Pac asks for defensive tips from OG and Mikal at practicesssss..... :D like Kobe asked for tips from GP once and went on to be named All Defense First Team the very following season!!

I mean, even if Pac doesn't ask for tips, you see his defensive potential, if you're Mikal or OG seeing it you can't help but show your rook a thing or two...

He was doing his best to keep his feet in front of his man. He may be on Brunson's level as a defender and Jalen still was 2nd in the league in collecting charges. So he may be passable as a defender since most of the time he won't be defending starting PG's early in his career.

Kolek will be fine against other bench PGs. I'm not worried.

Charlotte had 4 actual rotation players out there. The Knicks? Aside from Dadiet, nobody on the Knicks was drafted in the first round. A real roster with real players and his defense wouldn't look as bad.

Deuce rode the pine behind Grimes, but broke out once Grimes was dealt. That's how I see Kolek until/if Deuce gets dealt. He's a true floor general and his passing is already elite.

Dadiet's shots weren't falling today, but his defense is stellar. He's a bit raw but could come up quickly under Thibs and the tutelage of OG and Mikal.

Hukporti is better than Sims.

Rokas didn't impress. Maybe he needs another game or 2 out of fairness.

Kolek looks weak on defense. Great running an offense and very good passing. The only NBA level looking talent on the floor tonight. Pacome looks good on defense but, couldn't hit the ocean if he fell out of a boat. Rokas? Kolek needs to borrow his body.

It's one game. Didn't really like much of anything except Kolek and some of Pacome. Hopefully they gel a little more and look a little better. Was very sloppy teamwork most of the time. Kolek was the only one to really shine through it. He just looks so tiny out there.

Does anyone think that Toppin2 should stay on the roster based on his Summer League performance? Or maybe we could trade him to Detroit?

Kolek and his motor and passing are perfect for Hart, Divo, Deuce and Precious/Sims.

Da Diet has skills. You can see it with the handle. Just needs experience and coaching.

Hukporti will probably spend time in Westchester but good project.

Rokas needs to show more. Plays too out of control.

Skap had some nice plays. Sets good screens, has a soft touch and takes up space.

We previously drafted an 18 year old from France with plus defense and issues on offense. At least this time it wasn't with the 8th pick and we are in a better place with player development.

To be clear, none of the 3 rooks should expect to see any serious mins with the big squad. The key will be aligning the W-Knicks roster to make the most out of their skills and development. This is what I saw:

Kolek: As the older rook in the class, he has more of a feel for the game. Very composed on offense. Missed some bunnies, but love the passing vision. Will get torched on defense initially, but that can be managed over time with development. Just focus on hitting the 3.

Duane Washington Jr: Stop chucking. At the same time, there no one else who can score right now, so we'll have to live with the chucking.

Jacob Toppin: Similar comments as Duane, but make that layup at the end.

Dadiet: Ironically, the knock on him leading into the draft is that he couldn't do anything outside score. It seems like his man vs man defense on Brandon Miller was okay. That jumper will be a work in progress. More time in the gym will only help. Love the connectivity, passing, and movement though.

Hukporti: Also another raw big. Doesn't have much verticality or athleticism. Summer League won't be accentuate what he's good at.
