Deuce got bumped from PG, now from 2G, his days may be numbered.

Why would NY want a $20,210,285 contract on the books? NY could be thinking win now AND the next move ahead. They could be setting us up for a nice upgrade. Remember, you can't aggregate contracts in trades if NY was over the 2nd apron. This is key. Maybe they are concerned they'd go above it by the trade deadline?
Mitch+Deuce ---> Marcus Smart ---> ???
Looking through names who make about that much salary who could be available... Myles Turner stood out to me. He will be an UFA at the end of the year making $19,928,500. Who do you think they would target?
NY could do the same thing with Clint Capella. ($22,265,280)
Mitch+Deuce ---> Clint Capella ---> ???
Smart has 1 more year on his contract than Capella, but his salary goes up a little. Smart would provide more flexibility for a future trade asset.
If we do have a young center lined up (Kessler/Richards) it could be Smart. If we don't then it could be Capella + unknown player with Precious going out.
Just a different way to look at these "rumors." Probably better options to update the roster at 20m or less instead of being capped out at 14m (Mitch) if we go into the 2nd apron.
“And it’s not easy. It’s your immediate plan and also your future plan. You have to look at it in almost three different ways. There’s the basketball standpoint, what does it mean for what’s on the floor? Then there’s the financial impact. Then there’s also the penalty aspect that you have to look at as well. So all three things before you make a decision you have to dig deep on." - Tom Thibodeau about team building

So the next moves are for Trey Murphy and Marcus Smart? Not bad.

Shamet is a sieve on defense. He’s not a reason to trade Deuce. Theres a reason Shamet is like on his 7th team.

Re: Trades and Transactions Thread - Preseason and Beyond
How about a trade like this:
Knicks trade:
Mitch Robinson to Hornets
Dadiet to Jazz
2025 Wizards 1st rounder to Jazz
Jazz trade:
Kessler to Knicks
Hornets trade:
Nick Richards to Knicks
Vasilije Micic to knicks
2027 Miami 1st rounder to Jazz
2025 Round 2 from Sixers to Jazz
I think this is a good trade for all three teams.
Micic has a club option of 8.1 million after this season.
I don't like trading Dadiet, but don't really see the Wizards pick being much of an asset. Could swap Dadiet for Sims, but I assume the Jazz have no incentive to make this trade right now, so a slight overpay would have to happen.
In saying that:
Kessler/Richards/Sims
Towns/Precious
OG/Hart
Bridges/Deuce/Shamet
Jalen/Payne/Kolek/Micic
Knicks trade:
Mitch Robinson to Hornets
Dadiet to Jazz
2025 Wizards 1st rounder to Jazz
Jazz trade:
Kessler to Knicks
Hornets trade:
Nick Richards to Knicks
Vasilije Micic to knicks
2027 Miami 1st rounder to Jazz
2025 Round 2 from Sixers to Jazz

I agree but Thibs quote about Shamet’s chemistry with Payne on the 2nd team seems like we’re being set up for something

Feels like Leon wants to flip Mitch for a Donte replacement. Remember, the original deal they wanted to do was Mitch and Randle for KAT and keep Donte. Instead they traded Donte and kept Mitch. Now they will flip Mitch for a 3D shooting guard. Plan was always KAT at Center and surrounding him and Brunson with 3D players

These trades ideas never happen lol, but I do see a reason why each team would do it.

Training camp reiterated the clear front-runner for a final roster spot.
Landry Shamet, who is operating on a non-guaranteed deal, has been repeatedly referenced by coach Tom Thibodeau as a shining member of the reserves after sessions at The Citadel.
The Knicks must fill at least two roster spots before the regular season, but only one will go to a veteran like Shamet because of the luxury-tax implications

I always thought of Shamet as a plus defender with streaky outside shooting? Unless TJ Warren shines (haven’t heard anything about him), Shamet seems to be the only veteran bench player big enough to be a wing, so that does leave Deuce with a rotation spot at guard. Also,
It’s a sign of Thibodeau’s nine-man rotation: Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, Karl-Anthony Towns, McBride, Achiuwa, Payne, Shamet and Sims.
Apparently Thibs’ nine-man rotation is 10 players… leaving that aside, Deuce will get minutes over Sims, and if you take both of them out, you’re down to 8 in the rotation and even Thibs won’t do that in the regular season.

My guesses on what they value right now.Based on the rumors of what they're going after a strong defensive pure ball , handling 1 to take pressure and perfectly compliment brunson at the 1 spot. Deuce is more an undersize 2 than a one. And the knicks have repeatedly said as much. Then
A potential elite shooting three with more length like trey murphy.
