Is a package of some combination Kolek, Dadiet, 2030 1st round swap and Wash 1st enough for Kessler? It might be, but it would all come down to how much Ainge likes those 2 players.

No. The trade packages for these guys were viewed as reasonable at the time.

Knicks are among many team that have checked in with Philly on big man Guerschon Yabusele. Sixers aren't necessarily looking to move Yabusele, who is havin a strong season (10.4 pts, 5.5 rebs, 2 assists per game; shooting 39% on 3s). PHI's Eric Gordon also continues to garner interest from playoff contenders. Sixers are in an interesting situation ahead of the deadline. They currently sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with a 19-27 record. Philadelphia will have to send its 2025 first-round pick to OKC if it falls outside of the top 6. So in one sense, the Sixers are incentivized to continue to lose. That's where trading Yabusele makes sense. PHI's asking price for Yabusele is unknown but, again, they don't want to move Yabusele. If the Knicks traded for Yabusele, he could certainly help them along the front line. He has had to play center for the Sixers amid a rash of injuries. Yabusele's 3-point shooting would also benefit a Knick team that wants to keep the floor spread on offense. HoopsHype first reported the Knicks' contact with the Sixers on Yabusele.

I would not be surprised if a miscommunication led the Knicks to think Pacome would be OK to be a stashed player.

It did not make sense to draft Pacome and did not stash him. You could draft a more win-now rookie or trade the pick.

You are overestimating the value of the player coming back and underestimating the value of what we'd be giving up.

Most the players discussed are nice role players who have value as a complementary piece to shore up any weaknesses for a championship team. These aren't Mikal Bridges or OG level talents.

Also Kolek could absolutely carry a decent first round grade value for some teams.

If you trade for a Kessler let's say, he is super cheap contract wise and wouldn't need Mitch to salary match.

He earns just a little too much. I want him, but after trading for him, we couldn’t have enough players and we’d be left without centers.

You guys really have to stop throwing in names of young players on rookie deals, nobody is giving up a decent young player for anything we're offering.

I can see Abajai traded for a trio of 2nd rd picks. It’s consistent with what other guys on his level are traded for as they enter RFA (Rui, Quentin Grimes).

Could also see Pacome for Abajai making sense here as well. Toronto’s gets two extra rookie scale years and NY gets a player who is more ready to contribute. Issue becomes matching salary as you need to include Sims + Shamet + Precious to make the math work (Precious isn’t a throw in IMO) and I’m not sure there is enough room to replace two roster spots with minimums post trade.

Expanding on the above - Pacome + Shamet + Sims for Abajai leaves NY 1,469,000 below the apron with 2 open roster spots. Not sure what the pro rated minimum for 30 games is, but I think there is a way to swing this with the 14 days where you can have less and 14 contracts on the roster.

Bridges was a massive overpay. Even with how well Bridges has played he will never be with what NY gave up for him. Even if none of those picks turn into top 10 picks the lack of draft flexibility is crippling for the Knicks and it will be more noticeable as the years go on.

The Anunoby trade feels lien a win-win. OG is better fit on NY’s roster and Barrett has terrific for the Raptors. I think we caught a break not paying Immanuel Quickely 35mm per year but you could make the argument that a straight Barrett-OG swap was fair value wise.

The Towns trade was a massive steal. Not just getting Towns but also getting out of the Julius Randle business.

Looking at the combined trades:
Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, Donte DiVencenzo, Immanuel Quickeky, Quentin Grimes (part of Bogdonovic trade), 4 unprotected 1st rd picks, 2 protected 1st rd pick, 1 unprotected pick swap, 5 2nd rd picks for Karl Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby.

Combined it’s reasonable value, but it’s still A LOT of value.

Leon and Co have not yet shown the ability to get creative in the margins with limited assets, which they will need to do the next handful of trade cycles.
