I would do it for Hart and Bridges, but it’s much more likely that we bring back DiVincenzo than for this to happen. Regardless, trolls love to act like we specifically need to ship out Towns in order for Durant to save us. It doesn’t matter that Towns will very likely be better than KD as early as next year because obviously all this is only rooted in the insecurity that stems from having been so embarrassingly wrong on Towns in the first place.

I could be wrong here too, but I do not think Rose would trade KAT for geriatric KD though and he really should not. Instead Phoenix will gladly put Gobert next to Booker and Beal (who they’re stuck with) and see how that works. Gobert is on a decreasing contract that’ll look better as it ages. In contrast to a KAT for Durant trade, this actually makes sense for both teams and not only Phoenix. Ant will lobby hard for this too and he obviously has a lot of leverage. He is still so young that they can operate on two timelines simultaneously.

This being realgm of course, it doesn’t have to make sense for the loudest. They know nothing and mostly go by hearsay, we’ve been there before.

I'm neither super hot for KD nor against it but you are underestimating him quite a bit. The Suns were 33-29 with him and 3-17 without him. That stat alone shows that he is still a true difference maker. On top of that KD is one of a kind type of athlete. At 6'11 he had a sort of mobility and coordination really unseen before him. He will score 25+ points even 4 years from now. And as much as it pains me to say, it looks like KD at 40 will also be a better defender than KAT will ever be. I like KAT and hope he succeeds but so far his defense has been literally so bad he would need to score 35points consistently against strong teams so that his offense outweighs his lack of defense. I have zero doubt that for the next 3 years KD will be the net better player for a team than KAT....

They wouldn't. They'd ask for KAT and that's a hard pass

I honestly would do it. It's a risky gamble but we desperately need a second creator.

And I'd look to move mikal for a big.

We agree on Giannis tho so I'm with you on that part

Where exactly was KD a negative in that series tho?
Durant averaged 26.8 points on 55.2% shooting from the field with 6.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.5 blocks over four games.

And also, KAT played the 4 last year. Which he isn’t doing anymore.

Go look at the game logs.

KD put up good stats this year too and his team didn't even make the play in.

I see in the game logs KD was going ham  so where was he a negative??

The Suns were 33-29 with him and 3-17 without him this season. I mean we literally saw him take down the Cavs by himself before he got injured. He's obviously still an impact player.

That's the shell game, where you end up chasing the next need and end up worse than before. Because once you move Mikal for the big you now need a 2, how can you get the 2? You're not starting Deuce or Hart at the 2, so you have to trade Hart, Deuce or both, and now you have even less of a rotation than before, except now your 2nd best player is 37.

The Suns fcked up by going all in on Beal.... kinda like we did with mikal

Mikal doesn't have a no trade clause, he can be moved, but the point is once you start trading core pieces you end up playing a shell game if every move isn't perfect.

Then that sounds like it's everyone else fault.

Just like it was in Brooklyn I guess.

Yet, he's the one constant in these teams going into the sh*ter after acquiring him.

Buyer beware is all I'm saying. What he did against the Bucks was four years ago.

You've been using playoff net rating to make your case against KAT, while turning around to talk up about how great KD is?

In the playoffs KD was -18.8 net rating last season against the Wolves, he had a 129.4 DRTG which was the worst on the entire team, the corpse of Eric Gordon had a lower DRTG than him and he was playing 30mpg. KAT/McDaniels were 15-28 when guarded by him, they were his primary matchups. He couldn't guard anyone on the Wolves.

He had a -0.4 net rating the year before that. So in one thread, KAT is the devil for his playoff net rating, in the other KD is the savior for his negative net rating with the Suns.

Durant just isn't a ceiling raiser. He always gets his and yet the team gets their asses beat. That's a negative player to me.

He put up pretty stats versus Boston too and the Nets got ran out of the gym. Minnesota ran Phoenix outta the gym 12 months ago and now they've missed the playoffs entirely. You think this guy is the answer?

I wasn't even looking at Net rating

KD is an empty stats player. He will always get his but he's not helping you win

Phoenix barely being over .500 when he plays isn't a flex.

He's not the player he used to be, he can still make an impact, but acting like he's the savior when he'll be 37 is just crazy.

Just to help your argument, here's his Net rating against the Celtics.

it's honestly not a great trade because of his age but i don't think the suns record means anything. if we traded kat for him i don't think the suns would win more. would we ? probably not much more but i would trust him more as a 2nd option in the playoffs than kat. it is a desperation move. the biggest issue though is that i think kat's defensive liabilities will always stop you from ever being able to win a championship. if you played him exclusively as a 4 it would be better but it takes away some of his offensive advantages. to be honest we never should have got in the kat business but now we're here and if he doesn't perform in the playoffs, or he is seen as an obvious liability, we may have to get desperate to fix this thing. that doesn't necessarily mean trading for kd or even trading kat but it will have to involve getting him away from playing the 5 full time. even then though i just will never really believe that the duo of brunson and kat are going to be good enough to win it all. we're probably just screwed no matter what we do. needles was right all along lol

He can demonstrably only win anything by joining a 73 win team that didn’t even need him and who won another championship again after he was gone. We’re only a 51 win team. We needed to win 22 more games this year to have a team good enough for him to win here. But the 73 was in his prime 7 years ago. Now he’s so far past his prime we need to be at least an 82-0 team for him to win here. If he joins an 82-0 team that has already won multiple championships he might be able to ring chase to another one. Otherwise it’s not happening. You see, the math don’t lie. And it spells disaster for any team that brings him in

KAT's career average net rating in the playoffs: -6.6

To act like KD is worse is comical
