The most likely/possible scenario that will solve Amare's less than spectacular play is Amare getting back into game shape.

Have some patience.

If some great trade opportunity comes along then, yes, of course, we should take it (e.g. another younger top 10 PF/C). Otherwise, let this situation work itself out within our team.

lee might be a worse one-on-one defender, but I'm positive that he is intellectually capable of team defense

Didn't people here call DLee 'Doorman?' Wasn't there a graphic of DLee in a doorman uniform that got posted over and over?

lazy on defense, doesn't go strong to the paint and misses easy rebounds.

Don't think so. Amare is worse. Lee is a smarter player and can learn or implement what he is asked to do for the sake of team defense more readily than Stat. And Stat's ability to block from the weak side has diminished as his hops have declined. Lee is still a younger player with a longer shelf life than Amare.

Lee was a 6'9" guy playing Center for us. Remember that? He was in defensive mismatches every game. He would not be asked to anchor the paint with Tyson in the middle. Regardless of his defensive shortcomings, playing a guy like that out of position doesn't help at all. He can play team and help defense better from his natural position.

I have never seen such lazy defense. guy shooting a basket and is already going up in the air and Lazy stat just throws his hand up.

Amare must go.. Teams are purposely using back door passes consistantly because Amare always sleep on defense Their killing us in paint points He dosent hustle for rebounds dont box out. no chance in playoffs if he sticks around.

Same here, at least Lee rebounded consistently and passed. Heck he was even better on defense than Amare is right now. Never thought it was possible to be a worse defender than Lee.

I dont think we will trade either STAT or Melo - but here is my "Im still upset about this loss to the Nets" reaction...

2 possible 3 team trades:

Trade 1:
NYK Trade: Melo, Amare
NYK Get: Gasol, Turkaglu

ORL Trade: Howard, Turkaglu
ORL Get: Bynum, Melo

LAL Trade: Gasol, Bynum
LAL Get: Howard, Amare

...We get team players - go back to Lin-ball... Orlando gets very good value for Howard, best deal they could ever imagine. LAL replace their 4/5 with a little more star-power.

Trade 2:
NYK Trade: Melo, Amare
NYK Get: Howard, Okur

NJN Trade: Lopez, Okur
NJN Get: Amare

ORL Trade: Howard
ORL Get: Melo, Lopez

...We get a Howard/Chandler front court, which I personally would like to see. NJN get a guy to try to keep Deron in town (although I think he still bolts to DAL - but even then you have a guy to bring to Brooklyn with you). Orlando, gets not as good of a package as the first deal... but its much better than Lopez and junky picks.

Amare must go. Not because we lost tonight and not because he is THE fall guy for the loss. I have seen way too much to beleive having Amare and Melo on the court at the same time would ever work. It just not going to work. Melo needs a tough defensive forward who doesnt need the ball or to score to be effective next to him. Ditto if we keep Amare.

i will be OK with taking back any garbage for Amare. i am talking anything, salary dump type garbage whatever. Just get us out of Amare's contract, if we can't get back expiring contracts then atleast get terrible players with smaller contracts.

Knicks FO must shop Amare hard this deadline, if not they are not doing their job.

OKC would be okay with Nick Collison, defensive PF great value, and Serge Ibaka, offensive putbacks pf, + cash consderations. Let's trade with them.
