Javale isn't a bad player. If he has Javale's career than he's an amazing pick at 36. I don't think it's an insult.

See thats been your problem since he was drafted. You keep trying to peg him as a second round pick. HE IS NOT a Second round pick in Talent. he was considered TOP TEN. And best beleive if he went to college, or what I really think HURT him,was that he could not participate in the combine, cause of Injury. He was already a mystery, and that was the last chance for most teams to really get a good idea of him.

Knicks got a player who if not for some for some unseen circumstances was EASILY a lotto pick in this draft. EASILY.

I don’t know about “EASILY.” Who would he have gone before in the lottery?

He is still a mystery having not played or competed in a year. Seven footers dominating in HS doesn’t really give a true indication of how they stack up against next level competition. I watched his highlights and from what I can gather is that he has potential because he’s athletic. Not sure about his IQ or activity when not involved. He appeared to stand around in some vids I watched.

Jerome Robinson that for damn sure.

I can see Miles Bridges as well.

Well, we’ll see. You know I liked the pick and I love McGee/Allen.

He has a really good chance to be a stud. I just don’t want to place extreme expectations on him. He def could be a DeAndre level talent who I remember slid in the draft.

Its not an Insult. Its the simple fact his ceiling is higher. Calling him a JaVale Clone is capping him out. His trajectory is much better than the WACK career that Mcgee had. If this dude was speaking like a princenton grad. Nobody would call him Mcgee.

What I noticed most was his strength and conditioning wasn't where it needs to be. That is something he spent the past year working on along with improving his footwork which looked raw in that HS game.

Now that's the truth. If he spoke like Bamba no one would question him. These interview videos have people spooked. I look at his skillset, compare them with the top picks and recognize where he was drafted and once I realize we are the beneficiaries, I am sold. Don't care about the interviews just hope he stays focused. If so we've got ourselves a major piece at C we haven't had since Ewing and a complimentary piece alongside KP/Knox/Frank. You know Kyrie would come with those 4.

I don't think Javale is his ceiling, I have no idea what he could become, but let's just say that if this dude ever finds himself starting at Center on the best team in the NBA playing big productive minutes in the NBA finals and winning the championship like Javale just did I'd consider that a pretty successful career and not a wack career like Shaquille O Neal would have everybody believe

Knicks wanted Mitchell Bad. They did it real smooth and stealth like.

Kudos to Perry and Mills on this move.

You have the article? That's impressive if they flew him in secretly

He just sounds socially awkward in a thick n'oleans drawl..... I don't know what his BBIQ but if those vids of him are any indication it's not the worst I've seen.

They said it in the press conference they met with him before the draft, yet there was not a peep for any NY media or Media period that meeting happened. So thats a stealth move on their behalf. They totally kept it under wraps.

Agreed. That’s why I think we should temper expectations for this kid. He’s not ready for prime time. Perhaps 2-3 years. He’s young so time is on his side of the Knicks are truly invested in him as a prospect.

“I was surprised he lasted until the 36th pick,’’ William Stockton, Robinson’s coach at Chalmette High School in Louisiana told MSGNetworks.com.

“After his senior year when he played in those two All-Star games, he was considered a Top 10 pick. For the Knicks to get him in the second round, I’ve said this to several people. It’s a steal.’’

“He was the first player in the gym and the last to leave,’’ he said. “And he got other players to buy in. I think one of the main reasons he’s going to succeed is because he wants to show everyone he belongs in the league.’’

His fall reminds me a bit of DeAndre Jordan. I will say though that other big men who avoided competitive drills have not performed well in the NBA (Kandi, Darko). Even if he has a Kandi-like career, still not horrible for his value... I would have considered him if we got the 2 clippers picks so getting him at 36 is about the same feeling as getting Lampe when we did.

But Lampe sucked, was way overhyped as the next Dirk, and played zero defense.
