If Memphis takes RJ and the Knicks feel like Morant is the prospect with the highest upside and take him, does the FO trade DSJ or do they keep both and let the kids battle it out?

Because I can't see either one of them taking a backseat/benching with no complaints. To be clear, I'm not advocating a trade, I like DSJ and I respect how hard he plays.

Take Morant and trade DSJ, IMO.

Trade dennis for a pick, it makes no sense to keep him why draft a point guard at 3 if your not confident he can change your franchise. You might as well just draft Culver instead if you feel Dennis can be a superior or equivalent level of a talent as Morant.

Dennis doesn't have a lot of value though.

DSJ has minimal value. The Mavs couldn't move him for a late first prior to the KP deal. If we land Morant, just keep DSJ as our backup PG.

If RJ goes 2...you absolutely take Morant and figure it out later. We are at a point where we are accumulating talent, developing talent.

morant is the one player i'd avoid, he's just not strong enough.

there's one thing to be bad on defense and it's another thing to have zero interest in playing defense. morant is the latter, he's always standing and watching in an upright position.

it's alarming.

After watching Kristaps and Klay tear their ACLs on plays that involved an opponent jumping into them, Morant looks like he's going to injure himself without anyone else needing to be involved in the play; Every time he lands you know it's only a matter of time before his luck runs out.

DSJr is up for a new contract, right?

My concern is having to decide what to do with him next year. That said, could always wait until the trade deadline.

Frank will be up for a new contract too (RFA for both). Maybe one or both put it together in a contract year. But, at that point, so you have the DLO concern of how much after only a small sample of quality ball (assuming they perform).

Or is it one more year before they are RFA?

While on the one hand draft young guys means you need to be patient, it also results in having to commit with more uncertainty.

If Hardaway Jr netted us a FRP I'm positive DSJ could also.

If Ja or Barrett are there at 3 and the Knicks take Garland I will lose my mind. He isn't in the same class as either of those guys. I don't see a future star but a Lue Williams type. Guy who can come off the bench and score in bunches but lacks real PG skills or defense to be your lead guard. Do Not Do It!!!!

Good luck with that.

DSJ refused to play off the ball as starter. The second the Knicks draft Morant or Garland or sign irving/Kemba, he is going to demand a trade. Dude wants to be the lead scoring guard. He thinks he is that good. Thats his big issue. Draft Ja or Garland, trade DSJ and let Frank start at SG and give him all the time and confidence he needs.

ehm....you didnt get a FRP for THJ, you got two for KP and you were allowed to dump THJ additional.

No, they originally traded him to the Hawks for a 1st round pick (Jerian Grant).
