If we strike out in FA I have a feeling it is going to be RJ, Ja and Darius Garland that will be fighting it out for ROY.

I think Pelicans team might be too dip and I won’t be surprised if Ingram steals a sizeable chunk of Zion’s thunder.

There is also a guy picked relatively later that usually contends but I don't see any strong one for now except perhaps Rui with the Wizards and all the way down to THT in the Lakers (will probably get playing time and LAL usually drafts well in that range). Iggy could also be in the equation for the All-Rookie second team if he is able to bump Knox out of the rotation.

By the way what are your thoughts on a Garland-Sexton back court for the Cavs? Cleveland looks like they want to be Trail Blazers of the East.

Tbh I’m a little skeptical of the back court. Garland and Sexton both seem like undersized scoring guards with suspect defense. Basically two CJ McCollums but no Lillard. I may be wrong though since I’m basing this on a small sample size of Garland, but I am not sold on his playmaking yet.

Big fan of Sexton but I was hoping he was going to downplay his poor playmaking out of college but instead all he did was confirm it this season. Maybe Garland proves me wrong in that aspect. We’ll have to see

Garland's playmaking's a big question mark. Small sample, but low apg and negative ast/tov ratio at Vanderbilt doesn't look good

He flashes some really nice reads, but he's not consistent with it. He's definitely a scoring guard, not a distributor

The one thing going for that backcourt is Garland's a good shooter, both on and off ball. He's similar to Trae Young in the way that he can pull up from well beyond NBA range and hit consistently, and he's a good catch and shoot guy too, so offensively it could work if they both work on reading the court

But they're gonna get destroyed on defense. Kevin Knox was the only reason Sexton wasn't the worst defender in the NBA last year, and while I think Garland can get to the point where he's not a liability, he has a way to go in that regard and he's probably gonna be matched up with 2s, which he's just always gonna be at a disadvantage against

It's really a bad fit, but the Cavs went with BPA, and Garland's ceiling is higher than Sexton's. Cavs really have no clue what they're doing
BaF Lakers:

VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela

Can RJ get his own official topic for infighting like Frank and DSJr and Knox?

With an RJ-DSJ backcourt I believe the best system for us would be the dribble drive offense.

Under this system your 1 and 2 would have to be good penetrators and playmakers while the 3 and 4 at the wings would have be good outside shooters and floor spacers while the 5 is the utility big.

Dotson, Iggy and Knox would be good at those 3 and 4 slots while Mitch would be awesome at the utility 5.

if the knicks are smart they have rj be the primary
point and have dsj play off the ball where you can fully utilize what he’s good at.

RJ Barrett’s girl is the super wifey. Hooper good girl vibe. My guy is a KING. Nothing like that bozo Ben in Philly.

Q: You’ll be No. 9.
A: That’s my dad’s number. He has a Canada basketball jersey framed on the wall in the house, No. 9, for when he was in the Olympics.

Rowan Barrett Sr.: The Knicks were his [late] grandfather’s team and his grandfather used to tell him: ‘one day, you’re going to play for the Knicks’.

He was Jamaican and so when he came to the States it was all about Patrick Ewing [the former Knicks star who was born in Jamaica]. It wasn’t about Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson. He didn’t understand any of them. He knew Ewing, so the Knicks were his team and he just talked about how [RJ] could play for the Knicks one day.

So RJ knowing he was fulfilling his grandfather’s dream, was one thing that made him emotional.

Do Team Canada fans have a popular forum somewhere on the interwebs? Or is it usually just a thread on Raptors forums?

Would love to get extra film of RJ against grown men other than Summer league so I hope he plays for Canada in World Cup Qualifying.

great question to find this community. raptors board might know.

I've never found anything better than the long running thread we have on the Raptors board which tends to cover less of the NBA guys and more of the following:

- U16/U17/U18/U19 FIBA Teams ("HairCanada" does a ton of great write-ups on these teams so that we have a better idea of who to look out for)
- Updates on our guys overseas playing in EuroLeague, EuroCup, etc
- Updates on our NCAA guys ("Mojo" "Frumble" "aminiaturebuddha" do a great job of scoping guys out - I'm pretty sure Mojo was onto Brandon Clarke pre-Gonzaga before the Media even knew he was Canadian)

We also talk a lot of ish about who is and isn't playing on the team and why. Andrew Wiggins is out, Jamal Murray is in as Canada's savior, etc.

Agreed. I think that’s our best option here given our roster construction rn
