In the end, Nets are the ones who got two of the top free agents. Knicks didn't. It's clear. Players don't want to play for the Knicks. It could be Dolan. Or whatever. But it does not look good.

KD and KI are now on the Nets, and they got some pull around the league. If they come out of Brooklyn and say good things, that might influence other free agents to go there. Which is possible.

It's not the end of hope obviously. But you can't count on free agency any longer. Let it go. And please don't start with Giannis or anything like that. Give it a rest. We have to build like we are just another city. Draft our top guys.

Well obviously you know me, and probably know I'm speaking out of jealousy. It's embarrassing, but I can't help it.

Anyway, regarding the Nets, there's a lot of ifs and coulds in my statement. So I'm not saying they did great, but they could have hit a home run if things go to plan.

I hope you are right about Knicks not wanting to give him the max. But recent sources are saying Durant already made up his mind a week ago. I would have liked if the Knicks formally offered a partially guaranteed contract.

In this day and age of guys getting paid $35-45M a year, many of which are terrible overpays, we signed a legit player for only 3 years at just over $20M and Taj was added for $10M for 2 years. While Randle has upside (he has improved every year basically) and Taj is obviously meant to provide the vet presence (which indicates to me not a lack of ideas, but a clear commitment to supporting the youth), these contracts and their length in this day and age keeps the team from getting boxed in on bad deals.

The real narrative is they are sticking to their guns and maintaining cap flexibility and not panicking by overpaying players to appease impatient fans. You should be applauding that whether Randle or Gibson themselves stir your loins or not. The overall narrative shows Perry is keeping a level head and not being a sucker. That's huge for the Knicks and I'm sure this board will misinterpret everything about it and this will be a cesspool for the next month.

unless kd regains his mvp form, nothing happened in free agency to change anything much so far. the lakers trade for ad is the only thing that moved the needle.

Depending on where Kawhi ends up, the Bucks are the only team of significance in the east and quite a bit of parity across the board. The tank race will be hot.
