Actually, this whole thing with Knicks fans and overmatched first options is overblown. If you look into our past, we've had a lot of overmatched first options we revere. We just don't accept overmatched first options that don't put in effort on defense. How else do you understand the Frank love?

My theory is this. Defense is often seen as a function of effort, and in NYC, you don't survive without effort.

Oh we’re comparing FVV to Randle now?

FVV has proven that he can be a winning player. He was a key contributor for the Raptors in the damn NBA Finals.

Randle has yet to play a single playoff game in his career. He has no track record whatsoever of being a winning player.

If FVV signs with the understanding that he will have to share playmaking duties with RJ and that he’s not gonna be the sole decision-maker out there on the floor, then he would be a good signing for the Knicks. We need to sign players who can fit eoth RJ and Mitch and help their development. FVV fits the archetype.

Kind of OT but I’m glad a somewhat “old head” said this..

I think Gilbert is right.. and it’s kind of why I’m a lil skeptical on if the game has passed Thibs by.. of course playing great defense is important still. But you also have to have fire power to compete in today’s NBA.. just getting by on defense only like the 04 pistons won’t cut it

you still need both. dallas had the best offense in the league. they were 16th in defense. how far did that take them ? the team with the best combined offense and defense was....the los angeles lakers. the only team that was top 6 in both. but if you establish the defense first as a team, you'll attract the stars that make your offense good. there's value in a thibs lead team...for now at least.

Yea, defense is still very important. Most of the best defensive teams were all contenders and in the playoffs. Defense and their versatility is a big part of what makes Lebron and AD great.

I like Bey and think he is pretty safe and will be solid. Maybe just a questionable ceiling so not sure they would take him at #8....but maybe since its such a toss-up draft. They could also be looking at trade scenarios

He shot 40% from the field in the playoffs. 41% from the field in the season. Career 41% from the field. He’s inefficient. Put him in a bigger role he’s going to be worse.

but how do you know that? he got better every year. I'm not saying i want him for 25 million a year, but for 18-20 I'm in.

He’s nice signing if you already have a good team. We don’t. He’s about to be 27 and he’s an inefficient mini shooting guard. I’ll pass and tank for a better long term PG.

i get your point. but we are talking about the "just tank another year" forever now. I doubt that rose comes here and just plays young guys on the way to a 22-50 record.

Let’s expand on the word “solid”

Cause I think a guy like Damyean Dotson is solid, but Saddiq will be much better, no?

Will he be better than a Jae Crowder? Probably, but Crowder has a lot of winning habits.
