Actually it’s two things

1) it’s really clear the Knicks had no developmental staff, prior to Thibs coming here and them poaching staff from other teams is why we actually now see guys improving.

2) Everytime KP got injured instead of expanding on his game, he had to basically rehab to get to the level he was before but losing some athleticism each time.

I will keep saying this, the smartest thing the mavs could do is try to get KP through this season healthy so they can help him add something to his game, or just focus on muscle gains. Their best chance to be good long term is have kP and Luka make it through the season healthy, and then try to add better pieces around them like Fournier and Otto Porter aka legitimate starting players and not the journeymen they have now making up the majority of their roster.

Why everyone offering them solutions tho? Let them suffer bro.

On the low my solution involves them giving up this year and tanking for us 8-)

Luka Doncic will be a champion one day. It's crazy at that level of play, but those are merely growing pains. Be careful not to sound stupid in retrospect.

Because Oubre just dropped 40 randomly... he and the Warriors were struggling really bad to start season.

Oubre was a top 5-7 pick prospect in HS though, I think he's a late bloomer and can be an All Star one day, Warriors are lucky to get him on the cheap.

Do you know by getting Oubre, GSW may have to pay an extra 68M in luxury taxes? Do you think Oubre worths more than 80M for a season?

one day after I watched the most depressing game of the season (vs. Bulls) I just watched the game the gave me the most joy all year. I absolutely love Portland. their injury luck is something else... and yet the won't go away.
Melo had his best game of the season by far imo.
the contrast, seeing their Backcourt and ours really hurt my eyes.
Lillard, CJ, Trent and Simons are all 40%+ shooters from three. So much fun to watch them.

Once Knicked always Knicked.. hopefully not this year.

2) Teams like Wolves and Piston tanked hard.

3) We got an easy schedule by the middle of the regular season. We would have a higher number of difficult games in the last 16 games of the regular season. But there was a pandemic that canceled all remaining games.

4) We end up as the 6th worst team, with 1 victory ahead of Hawks (by winning the last game against them in overtime) and Pistons. 2 victories ahead of Cavs and Wolves.

5) We got bad luck in the lottery and dropped 2 spots.

Nevertheless, if we had got the 4th pick, we would still have drafted Obi.

I think the personality issues with KP were overblown but there are just some holes in his game that won't go away plus the injuries. The Celtics trade was intriguing for that reason.
