OG is so confusing offensively because there are elements to a really good offensive player there with his intelligence, passing, shooting, and physical tools, but then he'll just trip over his own feet while trying to dribble the ball...

Not sure how much more OG can do other than C&S / cut unless his handle & footwork took a leap.

He's also made a few nice moves to the hoop too. It's been a mixed bag when he handles the ball. When he fumbles it, he can look real bad. Hopefully, we'll see less of that as he gets more comfortable with his teammates on offense.

Everything be everything on defense.

He's everything Cam Reddish _should_ be. Including a wack ISO player. But in OG's case even his imperfections are perfect

Looks like he wants to pull a Jerami Grant, but hopefully without losing the good things that make him OG.

Hey Knicks pals! I've come to share this Knicks info from the daily email NBA.com sends me in the morning...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
We’re still two weeks from the 2024 Trade Deadline, but the grades are already in for New York’s acquisition of OG Anunoby on Dec. 30.

The Knicks were 17-15 when they made the trade (8th in the East)

The Knicks are 9-2 since they made the trade, improving to 26-17 (5th in the East)

Adding the All-Defensive Second Team wing was bound to make an impact, but New York’s improvement on that side of the ball has been remarkable.

Image

Since Anunoby made his debut on New Year’s Day, the Knicks rank second in the NBA in defensive rating, allowing just 103.5 points per 100 possessions. That’s a 12-point improvement from their 20th-ranked defense prior to the trade.

That type of turnaround from one calendar year to another has only happened one other time since defensive rating has been tracked (1996-97). In four games in 2011 (due to shortened season), the Celtics ranked 28th in defensive rating, then finished 1st in 2012.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't really post a link to an email but that's what it said! Peace and love.

He honestly doesn’t need to be better on offense. I think if he can have a KG effect on the defense, that’s all we need. Be a leader out there, be tough and ferocious and demand the same out of all your teammates.

Yeah. Like I would have zero qualms with the team giving him 40M a year even if he makes zero offensive improvements...but those successful possession do make me wonder if we could put him on whatever program RJ did after his sophomore year, when he learned to stop moving like a robot. Because with a proper handle & footwork, OG could be a real player offensively as well as defensively.

Will be interesting to see if that ever develops, because he's a beaut either way. So if it does ever come together then that's just gravy.

Yeah I get that same sense. There's no question that OG wants to (and believes he can) be a more involved offensive player that should be getting more shots.

OG needs to become besties with Kawhi this summer and train with him or hire whoever trains Kawhi.

OG needs to work on his handle. Really work hard on that handle. Butterfingers.

We've also hit an easy spot on the schedule but the increase in defensive aptitude and spacing has been palpable. OG is awesome.

Wondering, are we still in position to make this deal if we had acceded to Ainge's demands for Mitchell? Assuming the team wanted to keep Grimes, which would have meant IQ, RJ, and a bunch of picks. When I think about it, it really does feel like a victory for Rose in that he didn't give away assets at their low point.

This thought crossed my mind earlier today. We probably don't have OG or much else to work with moving forward. Great non trade.
