They challenged the out of bounds call and then the foul was given retroactively. There was no call to challenge on the Hardaway shot

We showed flashes of our potential in the first 20 minutes of the game and in the last 8 minutes. I originally called NYK in 5 and I’ll stick with that. The talent disparity would outweigh Thibs’ poor coaching.

Yeah the talent disparity is outweighing Thibs poor coaching essentially. It is mind-boggling we are in a dogfight with a team clearly much much less talented. If you take the best 6 players of this series....5 are wearing orange and blue...yet every game is decided in the last second. Against similarly talented or more talented teams we get blown out in the first half.

Even on the way the game ended, JB made a good move but couldn’t get the shot to go

Then we probably should have lost on the call

He had 7 turnovers

Not a turnover guy usually. He is the main PG

2nd in the NBA in turnovers per game (4.4) behind Trae young (4.7) 8-)

I remember in college he averaged the same amount of assists and turnovers and being unimpressed by that

Timmys shot at the end could have gone either way with the refs. What pisses me off is the number of times this season I've seen our guys foul the other team on a critical 3 pointer. There's just no excuse for that. You just can't give the opposition a chance to go to the foul line at a critical moment in the game. I feel like we keep touching the hot stove over and over again without learning our lesson.

We wouldn’t have experienced a decade of hell with Isiah Thomas if the Pistons never existed. Suck it fools!

Yeah absolutely silly play by Hart regardless. You should be nowhere near were Hardaway could get awarded 3 FTs. Just imagine losing the game on the foul line like that and going back 2-2.....would have us locked in in a sure fire 7 game series. Silly play. Hart actually makes a lot of defensive mistakes if you play close attention.

Cade would be amazing in the Scottie Pippen role.

Yeah I didn’t realize. That is a sore spot then. He’s slot better than Randle but okay

he's played good defense all series. Glad Cam Payne bullied him into finally making those 2 huge 3's in the 4th

Those 3s were highly contested too, I thought they had no shot at going in  but I’m glad he came thru finally

BTW looking at all these playoff series I feel like the level of play in our series is close to the worst. I don't know how many teams in these playoffs have played worse....Memphis probably and that's it. Maybe the Rockets too.

I honestly feel like the Knicks are in reality somewhere around 10th best team in the league. After finishing the Pistons I'm really looking forward to the Celtics series to see whether I'm wrong or not. I hope I'm wrong but we look terrible more often than not. Essentially we only have 2 reliable shot makers. Bridges and OG are so on and off it is crazy and we really don't generate many open looks. No creativity on offense, everything coming the hard way.

On a broken play they tend to let it go at the end

But what Hart did was foolish

His defense was really good and I feel like generally the criticism regarding his defense has been a bit overblown. However his shotmaking is crazy inconsistent from 3. Like I never feel like he is going to make an open 3. And the shot looks funky as **** sometimes. Really not happy with the trade at all.

Cade is a legit 1. He sometimes creates open midrange shots with such ease against elite defenders like OG. He is strong too. I could definitely see him average 30points in the near future. He is really good.

Ridiculously stupid take..are you not seeing the kind of defense detroit is playing? Are you not see the way the refs are allowing them to play that way. Lastly, to not see the shot making by Brunson and KAT today and make this stupid post. This is a throwback physical series, no it’s not beautiful but doesn’t mean the level of play isn’t high

the jumper has actually impressed me this series. didn't really know that about him. the athleticism is mitigated by his size advantage at the 1. scary guy if detroit can put guys around him. but now is not their time

It’s a decent jumper decent / good

From The Athletic article that just dropped on Brunson

To really understand just how confident Jalen Brunson is, let’s take a trip back to February, in Memphis, when yet another New York Knicks game hung in the balance. Surely Knicks fans remember it, if for nothing more than a unique moment between a star player and coach.

The Grizzlies led New York by two with under 30 seconds remaining. Brunson, with a chance to give his team control of the game, broke the half-court line and dribbled right. A screen from Josh Hart gave him a sliver of space, and Brunson, the man known as “Captain Clutch,” drilled the shot.

Memphis called a timeout as soon as the ball tickled the twine. Brunson, with no hesitation, turned around and crouched ever so slightly, his arms extended and his fingers pointing at his head coach, Tom Thibodeau. In Thibodeau fashion, the coach waved his arm and turned to walk toward the bench, as if he were dismissing his star player.

That wasn’t the case. It was an inside moment between the two, one that Brunson said he didn’t want to share until a later date.

That date is now. Brunson, yet again, put together a clutch masterclass, this time in the playoffs, to give the Knicks a 3-1 series lead over the Pistons on Sunday. “Today is the day,” I told him postgame. He smiled and turned around.

“Thibs came up to me (before the shot) and said, ‘What do you want to run?'” Brunson recalled. “I told him, ‘It doesn’t matter. Do you want a 2 or a 3?’ We kept going back and forth. Finally, I said, ‘A 2 or a 3?’ He said, ‘A 3.’

“So I went for 3, made it and pointed at him.”

Thibs praying old Mitch shows up when so far that guy has been AWOL

It's honestly disrespectful to Precious after what he gave us most of the year. The guy had some big games in the regular season and doesn't deserve to be treated like a g league player by Thibs. Especially when Mitch is playing like garbage.

This is the issue with Thibs:

1. He can game plan to some extent. He did prove this in Game 3 by having Brunson use his ability to draw doubles and triples to create space for his teammates. It resulted in a better distribution of touches and a more coherent offense.

2. He cannot adjust during the game. Thibs is usually woeful at in-game refinements. Not going to go into it as everyone here has discussed it ad nauseum.

However, NOT playing Precious at all in this series also mitigates the positives in # 1, because it appears he has already made up his mind before the games to stick with Mitch at all costs even when he is truly awful.

There is no excuse for Thibs at this point. He's strictly an organization builder, but he is a very weak situational coach.

Yeah. But...

Spoiler:
Imagine him next to Brunson. I would trade any non JB piece we have for him.
