When working with a tight budget this would be a waste.

We desperately need a wing with size

You're ok with Kolek as backup PG?
We have multiple needs.

Think we gotta roll the dice. If Tyler not ready, gotta ship him out. Frankly, Thibs should have embraced him and toss him in the fire considering Payne has been both in and out of the dog house with him. Any team contending can't afford to handle 2nd round picks with extra care.

I hope they reach out to him. The Knicks need a bucket getter on the bench

I said I'll assess the KAT trade further once Randle agreed to an extension because one always has to figure in a player relative to the contract.

When the trade happened I was very positive about it. And in many ways KAT even exceeded expectations and really had a good season. He followed it up with probably the best playoff run of his career.

That said, looking at the trade today makes it much more iffy for me. KAT essentially makes as much as Randle + DD + 10mill. contract. + 17th pick of the draft. That looks like really a lot to give up for KAT. When the trade happened I was thinking it to be only Randle + DD because I thought the pick wouldn't convey and that Randle would sign an extension in the 40-45mill. range. I'm not a Randle fan at all but one could easily argue that Randle at 33mill. is the better package than KAT at 55mill. alone. Then you add DD + 10mill. cap space + 17th pick and it looks very meh. It looks like that type of space with some maneuvering could have netted you a guy like DFS. That trade really does not look too great today.

I agree but this is going to be overshadowed by the coach hiring saga. I am way more ok with what they did to get Mikal. I think KAT wasn’t worth it in a Thibs system. If they had kept Randle and DDV and had pick 17 I think they would be in a better position now and Thibs would still have a job since he didn’t struggle nearly as much coaching Randle as he has coaching KAT.

Considering the fact that we have very limited options in terms of adding playmaking etc. it wouldn't be a bad option. However there is no way you could play Hart, Westbrook and Mitch together, so maybe this signals that one of them could be involved in a trade. That is if this rumor is correct.

Pretty sure Randle wanted a max. The Knicks usually engage with negotiations with their FAs, determine whether they want to pay them that amount, and then ship the players off if they don't want to.

Weird enough, if Randle had been willing to $33 a year with the Knicks, I think he'd still be here.

I know we all love to poke fun at the Knicks but here is the honest reality: Clarkson would have been 3rd in potential assists this year on the Knicks and believe it or not he would have been 2nd on the team in Randles last season here.

The guy is not good on defense and he’s a small guard and it’s clear he’s got that JR Smith “never met a shot he didn’t like” mentality. But he can make plays for others and we don’t have that off the bench. Clarkson also averaged 12 drives per game this past year and led Utah with 14.6 last season. In 24-25 Brunson was at 17.9 drives and everyone else was under double digits. KAT 8, Mikal/OG 6 and Hart 4.3. Clarkson has even passed on 40% of his drives the last few years. Just saying beggars can’t be choosers and we need some players who can step into a role.

If Dolan fired Thibodeau when Leon didn't, that could've been his out to leave.

He has to draft a few more players for his son
