How about having Rondo sent to another team?
Rondo might just fit better with a player like Kevin Durant than Russell Westbrook does at this point in their careers.
Russell Westbrook might fit better next to a player like Melo than Rajon Rondo would.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kr5l4n8

Knicks acquire: Russell Westbrook, Gerald Wallace, Keith Bogans, & Kendrick Perkins

Thunder acquire: Rajon Rondo, Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton & JR Smith

Celtics acquire: Reggie Jackson, Jeremy Lamb, Andrea Bargnani, Perry Jones III, Beno Udrih, Hasheem Thabeet, 2016 1st round pick via Thunder (top 10 protected), & 2018 1st round pick via NYK

I'll take any trade that moves JR/ Felton / Bargs / Shump. Failures individually, epic failures together.

JR to OKC
Felton and Sefelosha to LAL
Nash to NYK

OKC moves Lamb to starting SG and uses JR to play the James Harden role. They don't give up anything of value.
Lakers save $6m in 2014 cap space and get a guy who excelled under D'Antoni in the past
Knicks get out of Felton and Smith's deal a year earlier. Anything they get from Nash would be a bonus.

Maybe we could flip Nash to the Raptors for Lowry and Fields.

Let's get it over with, quick and easy.

Melo to Chicago

Gibson, Boozer, and Charlotte's pick to NY

Why for us? Melo is walking to Chicago in the offseason anyway. Need to get value for him now.

Why for Chicago? Bulls will need to give up Gibson to clear room for Melo regardless. They throw in the pick in exchange for us taking Boozer (as opposed to them amnestying him and having to pay him) and so they can lock up Melo now instead of risk him going elsewhere in the summer.

That's all we can really get. Lakers don't have many young assets. Chicago is not gonna cough up more picks when they are in the odds-on favorite to sign him in the offseason.

I know LA won't do this just to have as much cap space in 2014 as possible. They lost Kobe, Nash and D12 going into the season. They are just as good (bad) as we are, and have a boat load of cap space + a lottery pick coming up. That's how you run a team. Not the bull way we run an organization.

If only there was some horrific contract like a Stoudemire to clear us of all these fools

Boozer, Snell, Rights to Mirotic, CHA protected 1st rd pick, CHI 2014 1st rd pick, CHA 2016 1st rd pick for Carmelo. They also clear Boozer's contract.

Bulls roll with Hinrich(Rose)/Butler/Anthony/Gibson/Noah - dirty.

Knicks get a pick in the 2014 draft (likely in the 18-22 range), a future pick from Charlottle that becomes unprotected in a few years, and a very highly regarded draft and stash player and a future pick. 4 valuable trade assets.

Yeah that might work too. They get to keep Gibson, which they can't do if they try to sign Melo as a free agent.

MIrotic / Butler / Rose / Noah - that's the untouchables. Bulls propaganda (as bad as it gets in the NBA) has Mirotic being the next Nowitzki. No way they move him.

We missed our chance on Deng. If we were trading Melo to the Bulls, one of the best two way players in the NBA was the guy you should of gotten.

I know Knicks mgmt has the delusion that Love and Melo would actually play well together, so they won't take on any contracts passed 2015. They didn't learn from the Amare Melo combo. Can't have a guy like Melo and surround him with scorers. You need do everything guys who are exceptional defenders.

Pistons lost to Milwaukee tonight. They're reeling like us. Josh Smith has been as bad a fit as Bargs has been for us. Trading for each other makes sense b/c Bargs has less years on his contract and is a "stretch 4". They also need shooting badly - I wonder if they would take JR?

I'll drive to Detroit and pick up Josh Smith if we could do this deal - Josh Smith for JR / Bargs

Anyone high on Kawhi Leonard?

He may be out for the year and the Spurs have a limited window.

Melo to the Spurs for Kawhi Leonard, Splitter (maybe to a third team), Boner (exp), Colo (exp) + a pick or two.

Then looks to move other players for further assets.

Kawhi is a better offensive shump I'm down as long as we get a couple picks but I don't want a spurs pick there never bad enough for a top ten pick.

Melo, Shump and Chandler for Blake, Redick and Jordan. I will toss in JR for Crawford if they say pretty please.

I'd do it in a heart beat, doubt that melo would re sign there though.

1. Lmao if you really think the Knicks would be able to trade two mainly negative players for a guy that's a potential all-star every year.

2. Detroit is too invested in the Smith/Drummond combo. Monroe is the guy they would be willing to move, and the Knicks don't really have any pieces to offer for him besides Shumpert and THJ. And I doubt they'd move Monroe for either or both of those guys since they just drafted KCP, who also looks promising. And Monroe isn't really a good fit next to Melo anyways.

Spurs aren't the type of team to make a panic trade like that. My guess is that Leonard is as untouchable a player in the NBA as it gets.
