Nurkic's weight and conditioning is a big concern. If Jackson wants a smart physical euro type C, just do what the Nets and Spurs are trying to do and try to get Timofey Mozgov's buddy Sasha Kaun's draft rights and bring him to the NBA.

nurkic's just a big boy, iirc his dad is the same size as the big show. his condition could be improved but that's a minor thing and can be done in a few weeks

Funny, you guys are looking at the wrong Denver center for the triangle. Nikola Jokic is a 7 footer, 253lbs that shoots as well as Porzingis. He isn't as athletic as KP, but most scouts think he could be a mid lottery pick if he was in this year's draft....look him up on Bleachers Report

Former Knicks on Trade Block

Post#4585 » by Trever1982 » Thu Jun 25, 2015 6:40 pm

So we have former Knicks David Lee, Gallinari, and Steve Novak on the trading block any chance we go after these guys? Could the #4 pick and Tim Hardaway be enough to get Ty Lawson, Gallinari and the 7 pick? or is it too risky to go after Gallanari? How bout Hardaway for Lee and #30 pick? Novak would be a nice pickup or maybe go after Hezonjia in the draft we need a good shooter to go along with the Bigs we will be getting

wouldn't mind seeing Novak back in a Knicks uniform. Timmy for Novak is ok with me but, I'm no GM.

Don't want Gallo back...too many injuries and Lee's defense makes Amare look like a young Ben Wallace in comparison.

Take on 15 million salary for the 30 pick ? Might as well spend a million and buy a second rounder

For us to take on lee

I need lee , #30 , 2016 1st , future 2nd and Barnes or no deal

Why would we go after them when we went no where with them? Why make the same mistake twice?

I love Nurkic and I think he could be awesome.... but the problem with this is my guy at #7 would be WCS and it makes no sense to get both of them IMO.

Thinking out loud here. Assuming the top 3 goes as expected, between 4 to 7 you have guys like Winslow, Mudiay, Hezonja, Porzingis, and WCS (really hope Kaminsky or Lyles isn't an option that high) in play. Meaning that 2 of those 5 guys I just listed will be available (possibly 3 or more if there's some major reach by a team early in the draft). Hell, I'd be down to get Nurkic and one of those guys... assuming Phil just doesn't want Mudiay. I still says he's the guy to get and we'd be better off not playing games and just take him at 4. I also am 99% confident that he's the guy Denver would be trading up for at 4, so he won't be there at 7 (and he wouldn't make it past SAC anyways).

Again, if Phil honestly believes that Mudiay (or Porzignis or Winslow) isn't the clear best prospect and KNOWS he can get who he thinks is the best prospect at 7... then sure, go for 7 and Nurkic.

Also, is it me or is it really hard gauge the Nuggets' assets value? Is Nurkic more valuable than our 2016 pick? Lawson is more valuable than Chandler or Faried, right? Who knows what Gallo's value is right now. I assume because of his contract, Nurkic has the highest value...

Boarder Patrol wrote:Draft whoever the Nuggets want, but do not sign him or trade him yet to save cap room (kind of like the Cavs held Wiggins in limbo last year)

Sign Monroe 4 years starting at 15 million.
Sign West 2 years + 1 year team option starting at 11 million
Sign back our minimum guys that we want

Trade the pick + Calderon for Lawson + a smaller asset

Then sign some veterans and bench pieces for the minimum.

Lawson
Galloway
Melo
West
Monroe

Then add Aldrich, Acy, Hardaway, etc to the bench.

Ew.

First: I love West and Monroe as options for us, but not together.

Second: The pick and Jose gets nothing less than Lawson and their pick. Also that's a deal that could happen on draft night, but I see your logic in holding it out to maximize capspace because Lawson has the bigger contract (then again #4's caphold is larger than #7's, but not by much).

I'm very high on signing Ellis if we draft one of WCS, Winslow, or Porzingis AND don't get one of the other guard FAs (besides maybe a guy like Beverley). But if we draft Mudiay, Hezonja, or Russell- I'm not about it. Same deal obviously if we can work our way into netting Butler, Afflalo, Green, etc.

Isn't Lee an expiring contract? If so he's an asset, and you're asking for 2 first rounders??...and Barns??..and a second??? I'm sure the Warriors would laugh at you.

I'd like to see something around Tim and Jose for Novak and Burke, but there'd need to be more added.

No because the value in giving you pure capspace for a guy making $15 mil is huge. That always comes with a huge price tag. You see it takes a few seconds to clear a guy making $5 mil, the price is much higher for $15 mil because fewer teams have the space/TPE to do it. Granted Lee is actually a good player so that helps GSW, but he's no $15 mil player.

Also GSW in particular has FAs to re-sign. Granted Green's free agency probably drags out and they don't need to move Lee right away... but the longer they wait, the fewer options they'll have as we see teams use their capspace.

I think Lee, the 2016 first, and Barnes for a HUGE TPE, a small TPE (for Barnes), and 2 2nd rounders is fair. It's worth noting that since Green is getting PAID this summer (it's going to be MAX or near MAX) and Barnes is in the same situation next summer... Barnes isn't likely to get paid too. And then Curry's cheap deal is almost done and he'll be getting a lot more.

I do agree on Gallo could be another Bargnani I think we need a pure shooter though maybe Chicago would be willing to trade McDermott.. why they sat him on the bench all playoffs I don't know just like Warriors sitting David Lee while Tristian Thompson and Mozgov got rebound after rebound. The fun starts tonight hope it turns out well.

I would rather move forward than back, I loved the Rooster when he was here but he is injury prone and it is time to move on.

Maybe if Lawson and Gallinari were then moved to Sacramento for Cousins...or every other 1st round pick from here to the end of time and Vivek's daughter.

It's beyond a fair deal

1st round pick
Future 1st round pick
2-2nd round picks
Harrison Barnes

Only way I consider the trade because we build up assets in the process. Other than that , no deal.

Lee can still be a productive 10/10 in 20-25 minutes either starting or off the bench

Barnes can start at the forward position or come off the bench as a solid role player aka his role in golden state
