Sorry mommy.

Jk, actually I do worry that he'll have a bad game, pick up some fouls or whatever, and then get benched instead of given time to work through and adjust to the NBA game.

Kid is smart, he needs to work on his handles, pretty shakey when bringing the ball up the court when pressure is applied.

The rest of the knicks can help him push the ball up the court though, and give him the rock once past half court to facilitate.

+1 If Lin can learn to stick his ass into annoying little guards while dribbling up the backcourt ala Magic, his life will be so much easier.

there's a joke in there that i won't make because it would be in bad taste and would result in a ban for me.

I think the opposite. I think he has found the perfect "system," coach (likely won't pull him for missinig a few jumpers), and teammates (Chandler and Amar'e) for his style of play. Similar to Rajon Rondo in Boston, I believe Lin will have a big impact on the Knicks offense. Teams are going to have to prepare for what Lin can do, or it'll be a mistake on their part. He's not the same type of athlete as Rondo, so he'll have a bigger challenge adjusting to the speed of the NBA game, but I can see him still being to excel despite the lack of ideal NBA size and speed (similar to Nash).

I'm not saying he's the next Steve Nash (so don't go there), just that he can turn into a better than expected starting caliber NBA PG, with the right system and teammates (even without Westbrook/Rose type speed). It just requires savvy and making smart decisions with the basketball. Lin still doesn't have it yet, or else he would be looking away players like Balkman and Jeffries when he's spotting up behind the three-point line. Another weakness, is if teams play off of him like Rondo, because they don't respect his outside shooting, and they decide to clog the lane, I can see Lin being a lot less effective. If he can become a knock down shooter in those situation the league better watch out, at least when he's in this type of system.
It's hard being a Knicks fan...

I do think Lin may have landed in one of the best situations suitable for his talents. He has the potential to be catnip for Stat, Tyson, Jeffries and Fields. My curiosity is how Melo works with him since I know the other guys will just stay alert for the rock whereas Melo may still want to do his jab step jump shot stuff when he should focus on getting to the best spot on the floor. Melo could be a perfect spot up shooter with Lin kicking back out.

Lin could be a real catalyst for this team. The key is everybody knowing their role.

Knick Swisher wrote:I don't agree with the move. Lin should still get good minutes, but he should be coming off the bench. I think they're giving him way too much responsibility and putting alot of pressure on him way too quickly and because of last game expectations are gonna be way too high. I just hope he doesn't wet the bed because if he does, I can see both Dantoni AND fans turning on him.

That said, congrats to JLin. I'm pulling for him. He just needs to stay within his game.

D'Antoni directly addressed that point, saying that if you intend to give someone big minutes, it's better to start them because then their minutes are spread out more. And he's right.

This Lin kid is something special. We're finally fun to watch, this is the type of basketball I expected heading into the season. Crisp play. What Lin did against Deron Williams and the Nets wasn't a fluke, this kid understands the PG position. Looking GREAT tonight against the Jazz here in the 1st quarter, and this is without Amar'e Stoudemire. This kid can ball.

I don't even care about Baron Davis anymore, we've found our PG; it's Jeremy Lin. This kid understands the PG position, and seems to be an outstanding passer of the basketball. A pass first PG who can drive into the lane, and finish athletically at the rim? Sign me up, this is the type of PG who can run Mike D'Antoni's offensive system. He's a true/pure PG. 9 points, 4 assists and +12 here int he 2nd quarter? Also had 4 passes where his teammates missed wide open layups. Also zero turnovers? He's the truth.

wow, 9 points and 7 assists during a time where we've been without Amare, Melo along with Tyson in foul troule? Simply amazing. Oh yeah, zero turnovers!

I already mentioned that when I stated "also had 4 passes where his teammates missed wide open layups".. aha but good call though.

Lin is a 2nd year player.

Is it too late for him to be picked for the Rookie-Sophomore game?
