Having a NTC allows you to control what team you to go.

The Knicks have to agree to a trade first, without that his no trade don't mean ****.

They don't even have a gm to negotiate with.
That would help.

Never said otherwise. They need to work together to get a deal done.

It makes any trade a mutual thing.
All teams hold NTC's. Few players do.

Exactly. He had lots of power when Phil made it clear to the entire world that he wanted to move him. If they aren't bluffing about keeping him, he loses a lot of power... especially if he's dead set on leaving.

A rational podcast from rational media members.
The best part is Ohm's reaction to moron Knicks fans tweeting him begging for Melo to leave & calling him a cancer. His response was pretty much are you crazy. This organization is the cancer and has treated him like trash the last 6 months. Melo owes them nothing after all this.
They're right.
It's good to know logical people can see Melo for what he is and see this post apocalyptic wasteland of a franchise for what it is.

realistically we need to hope CP3/Harden and Melo's camp puts enough pressure on Morey to get this done. HOU has to feel enough pressure that the NYK would actually keep Melo to give up more so that the knicks are happy enough with the return.

You actually did. It's called a no trade clause, not a trade me where I want to go clause.
The Knicks are not obligated to engage in any trade talks, and very easily can just go about their business with building their young roster. What value does his no trade clause have then?
None, because he can't go anywhere he wants without the team making a deal.

All the pressure to "hope" is on them. At this point I'm ok with keeping Melo. We aint trying to compete with Golden State right now.
Houston on the other hand needs to hope they buy enough:

Caused theyabout to get f@cKED

Agreed. If the Knicks want to keep him and Melo finds NY unbearable, that's on him. The NTC doesn't force them to trade him where he desires. It only allows him to stay in NY if he chooses.

Mind pointing me to where I said that...? I'm pretty sure I never said anything other than some iteration of Melo having the final say and teams need to come to the Knicks with a fair package...I'm very well aware the Knicks are not obligated to engage in any trade talks, thanks; however, no deal gets done without Melo's consent - in essence, he has the final say.
Like I just posted above, both sides need to work together to get a deal done. Someone needs to come to the Knicks with an acceptable offer, and Melo needs to give his approval. If either of those doesn't happen, then the stalemate continues and nothing happens.

A NTC only protects you from getting sent to a team you don't want to go to. That's all. If the team you do want to go to wants you...they have to pay. The NTC doesn't force a trade. Doesn't affect cost. It just keeps you from being sent where you don't want to go.
The Knicks don't have to trade him for garbage.

To do that to a guy who went all out for the past few years and made the Knicks the most relevant they have been in years would be wrong. The only thing Memo has done wrong is play for bad management. Trade him and end this era without dragging him through the mud. He represented the Knicks we'll. Why make our new front office look bad by stringing Melo along

I think it's a bargaining tactic mainly, imo. Knicks don't want a bad return, so they are talking about "keeping him" vs agreeing to a garbage trade.
As much as Phil made it evident of his plans even he didn't trade Melo for a set of junkyard tires which was all the Clippers could offer at that time for instance.
Melo may desire Houston because CP3 is there. Too bad they have nothing of value they are willing to give up currently, so we are where we are.

We're not doing it to him.
Houston is. They are the ones trying to trade for him with dog sh*t.
