The Knicks have a right to say no to a bad trade that's only good for him.
The NTC doesn't mean the Knicks have to trade him if he wants to leave.
Mills & Perry have already put it forth. We're rebuilding with or without Melo being here. If he's here, his fans can keep buying tickets to watch him play the rest of his prime away with no real shot at winning. If he's gone, we can accelerate the rebuild.
Personally I'm fine either way. Knicks finally need a 5 year plan.
Agreed, but we have too many posters placing this on Melo as if he owes them something. He doesn't. Just like we don't owe him anything.
Both parties must do what is in their best interests. BOTH. I wonder if fans would feel the same if KP was in this situation.
Players who get a NTC on their contract do it so they have confidence that they won't get dumped onto a team in the boondocks with no hope for the season because it's a good business deal for the organization said player is on...the " business" side of things. It's actually so the player has the power to stay on his team, and if he does want to demand where he's going, he can demand going to a good team and leave the **** team he's on...that's usually the case when a player demands a trade..it's to a better situation. There are a lot of good teams, better situations, but Melo doesn't want to go...why?
For the player to do what Melo is doing there has to be a good reason to stay on the team, right? This dude is using his NTC to STAY ON THE **** TEAM, not get out. Meanwhile, there are players above and below his tier taking destiny into their own hands and making moves that benefit their careers. Is this guy doing that? This mentality of his is why he has people rubbing their faces.
Saying "we did this we did that it's not Melo's fault" is simplifying it too much, put some context into it. This guy doesn't even know what the right way to use the power he has is...he'd rather stay in a dump then go give a couple years to a solid team and then go wherever he wants....nope, he'd rather play here and go nowhere. That's all you need to know why people think this guy is a dumbass, because most of the people who have a problem with him doing this can't fathom doing it themselves. You would sit here collect and mope, that's you, but don't paint it like it's the right thing to do just because the power to do it was handed to you....it's **** stupid and a career killing move.
Irving didn't even have a NTC...he played with Lebron James, yet he demanded a trade, ended up being on the best regular season, ECF team from last year and is ready to go toe to toe with Lebron in the ECF on his own...Paul George was able to leave a bunch of nobodies and is now going to start along side the defending MVP, even Butler is going to go play with a young and coming team with a couple of former ROY winners and a great coach.....wtf is Melo doing with his NTC? His only solution is to go play with Li'l Chris? Because Houston is such a wonderful city? Come on. And I don't buy the such and such player wants to live and play here or there crap...these guys live in hotels in different cities most of their lives, it's not the big deal fans make it out to be. IF it was we'd have a couple of great all time teams by now.
So read your bolded statement and ask yourself, is what this guy doing in his own best interest? Staying on this team? Really? This is what bums who don't know if they're going to be in the league do, not future hall of famers. I want him to go somewhere and kick ass, I don't just want him off this team because he sucks or anything...it doesn't matter, this team is garbage with or without him...but he can do better, and he won't. This is why this dude has me SMDH.
