Dropping & us taking him is another story. I pray we ACTUALLY take him of he's there!

He's a PERFECT compliment to Frank & Porzingis. :(

Nah, he's not a perfect compliment, especially on defense

You're gonna have to have him guard points, cause he's too small to guard 2s and he doesn't put in the effort to make up for it, so that means you're taking away Frank's biggest strength (on ball defense), because he'd have to guard the 2 with Trae on the court

And then KP would suffer too, cause he isn't really great at PnR defense on the whole, and you add a defensive sieve like Young, and we'd be killed in every screening action

I just don't like him cause I put a lot of emphasis on defense when I want to build a team

Strongly disagree with that about Trae. But I respect your opinion, so we'll agree to disagree about his fit with us.

--Mags

While Trae may not project to even be a decent defender it doesn't mean he cannot learn to play respectable team defense under the leadership of coach Fiz.

The real determining factor of Trae's ability on defense may be the system, the coach and the complementing players. Next to Frank you can have Frank guarding the quicker, more elusive of the two guards they are facing and Trae would take the other one.

He'd probably still get abused some of the time, but that's why having a Porzingis and another frontline defender can compensate for any leaks into the interior. Some of the time.

But if Trey Burke is your starting PG and he can give defensive effort, then so can Trae. Both Burke and Young can improve in a good defensive scheme.

And Trae in particular can aspire to having a good steal ratio. He is quick enough to pick off some passes in the lane if he is fully court aware which I think he could be.

Much of this can be compared to what Curry was and has become, because I think their games may be comparable on both ends of the court.

Not necessarily, Trae can be a VERY good 6th man alongside Mudiay in the 2nd unit.

I don't think we need two undersized guards who are shoot first, offer no defensive versatility, and probably can't outproduce their defensive liability.

Essentially, we don't need two 6th men who have the same exact strengths and weaknesses.

They're both offensive PGs, but approach things differently.

So Trae is a better version of Burke. Keep him.

It's kind of like having 2 Kanters.

Is Sexton that different on offense from Knicks Derrick Rose besides getting to the ft line more?

Why do all these young players always act like they would love to play for the Knicks then when they become FA's they want nothing to do with us? I hate being a Knicks fan.

Lots of rumblings today
(Some of which contradict one another).

- SI's latest mock said that the Knicks seem to be zeroed in on drafting a point guard at 9. If Young is gone, they think Sexton is their guy

- Berman said that the Knicks "believe Young would be a significant upgrade with a high upside and would snatch him if he fell.”

(both of those contradict what Givony said yesterday)

- More buzz is building for Trae Young at 3 to Atlanta

- Givony said that Cleveland is enamored with SGA and seems to be their target

- Steve Kyler reaffirmed what Woj said yesterday about Sexton being Orlando's guy as of now

- He also said that Bamba is the most likely to fall of the top 5 guys and while there are some teams interested in the top 7, he doesn't seem to be the top option for any of them

- MPJ said on the radio that he has a near guarantee from a team picking high
New reality of Son ship!

“He had a terrific workout, even kicked around Miles Bridges, who is a couple of years older than him,’’ said the NBA source.

Knox, a 6-foot-9 shotmaker and the second youngest player in the draft (he’ll turn 19 in August), has seen his draft stock rocket since private workouts began.

Knox train building. Imagine how this guy is going to look when he fills out his body.

.9. New York Knicks

Kevin Knox
Kentucky
Age: 18.7
SF/PF

Height: 6-foot-9 | Weight: 205

While we've had Knox sliding to the Nos. 12-15 range the past few months after an up-and-down freshman season, NBA teams drafting in that range say they don't anticipate him being there, as there seems to be a significant market for his services in the Nos. 7-11 range.

Knox had an underwhelming showing at his pro day in Miami, according to multiple scouts in attendance, but he has been very good otherwise in workouts. There's a significant market in the NBA for combo forwards in his mold who can make an open shot, defend multiple positions and offer some offensive versatility. He's one of the youngest players in this draft, so he still has plenty of room to continue to grow.

The quiet dude with cornrows will cost Frank and the pick that would select Trae
