He’s a good and skilled passer too. What if he transforms his game more and can start playing point.

Something special about both him and Mitch ofc.

he's slightly smallish as a 2 so i've said before if ever wants to be a starter he needs to be a point. i would hope he knows this too and starts working towards that. he's already a pretty efficient scorer and would be one of the taller points but he has to change his mindset to look for others more.

Dude's 6'5.. he just needs to get stronger and improve his jumper. I like him as a 6th man

One thing that I'm starting to like about this team is that there's multiple guys who are good-to-very good passers. Last year, we started out with a roster of:

Burke
THJr
Trier
Knox
Kanter
Hezojna (as a sg/sf)

All fighting for shots. The only guys who were willing passers and unselfish were: Mitch, Frank, Dotson, LFT, Vonleh, Mudiay, Baker... Nearly all of our best ball handlers and ball dominant guys were shoot-first. Now, we have willing passers in:

RJ (avged more asissts than any non-PG in the draft)
Randle (could forsee him avging 4apg from the PF spot)
DSJ
Peyton
Dotson
Bullock
Frank

The biggest question marks from a passing standpoint are Trier, Portis and Knox. However, Knox has said ALL of the right htings. Trier also just seems like someone who loves good bball. He loves shooting but he has definitely shown that he can pass. I think the coaches could get through to him. Portis.. I don't know. I've heard that he's a black hole. But, by all accounts, he's a great worker. I really haven't watched enough of Taj or Ellington recently to comment.

Either way, our shooting and unselfishness is vastly improved.

They would have to win a championship for this to happen... Don't forget, it's still the Brooklyn Nets and not the New York Nets

As of right now, all the headlines they are getting is Knicks V. Nets. Unless they make headlines on their own, I don't see it. They still have to get the Knicks in there somewhere to get views/clicks.

Just look at the Clippers and Lakers. While Lakers sucked, Clippers had PC3, Blake Griffen, and DeAndre Jordan. They made the playoffs consistently. Were both LA teams and even shared the same arena. Yet, that city was still primarily Lakers.

Nets made the Finals....back to back, and STILL we were the talk of the town.

That’s mind blowing to me.

KD, you done **** up.

I can't wait for our Knicks to beat them a few times during regular season. What will excuse be, I wonder

Payton is low maintenance, consistent and a pass first PG. He is obviously not the long term answer but he is a solid floor general in the short term.

Smart rebuilds always do stuff like this

We’ve seen 3 teams from our own division do the asset for salary dump route and we’ve seen those 3 teams enter the upper tier of NBA teams.

All since the last time we made the playoffs.

Meanwhile in Knicksland....

Lets have some patience. The knicks traded KP for Assets, and these deals (Which all have team options) are for high level roleplayers that teams will want come playoff time. We could still trade for either picks or maybe young players.

The point that a lot of people are missing is the knicks had a list of plans depending how Durant chose. Once he went to another team, option 2 was to move quickly to get certain guys on short deals which is what the knicks did.

Now imagine if we were waiting for Kawhi or for a team to drop a player like Iggy or Whiteside and afterwards all that was left LT tier players and doing deals with teams that have historically gone out there way to short change the knicks?

This year I think the Knicks want to be like the Kings where yeah they aren't playoff bound, but there are signs of growth and teams have come to play when they face them.

This ish is too funny. I'm just glad we handled our business. Now I can go down to Myrtle Beach for the week, enjoy Summer League and my vacation without having to refresh my phone every 5 minutes

Why are people even talking about our core when we're in year two of a rebuild? That's what's funny. We just started and right now we don't know what Knox will be to say he's part of the core, we don't know what Barrett will be to say he's part of the core, we don't know what DSJ will be to say he's part of the core, we don't know if J.Randle is the player he was last year and actually puts the effort in to get better on defense to end up keeping him to make him part of the core.

It's too early to be talking core in year two of the rebuild especially when none of the players added in year two have even played a game for us yet.

Those guys are our core for now. Whether they are long term pieces is what the team is figuring out, and that will likely take several years of commitment.

VCBC wrote:So Perry decided to pass on a meeting w Kawhi for 4 bums? And yes, he could've signed Randle and Portis and still had a max slot.

Please tell me this is fake news. Regardless, fire Perry & Mills stat

I'm sure the Knicks were the 4th team on his list of Toronto, Lakers, Clips and Knicks so we didn't have the best chance at getting him to actually choose us so the Knicks chose to start the process of becoming a winning team and creating a winning culture which is what other big name free agents will want to choose to play for you. So the main thing you said was they passed on a meeting not on signing Kawhi. It was juts a meeting that we weren't gonna get until the 3rd and by that time we wouldn't of been able to get much good young talent to come play for us especially on the type of contracts we got for the type B level free agents.

The guys we brought in are not bums so i think that's just a dumb thing to even say. I get it that it's not the big names we were all hoping for but all of the guys that we signed are good at certain things but none are good at everything but the guys that are good at everything are the super stars. Whoever the Lakers get to put around Lebron and AD won't be good at everything, the guys Kawhi had around him last year weren't good at everything and this goes for every team that does have a super star or two. The Nets had no players at all that were good at everything but they played as a team and became a more attractive situation to the big names then the Knicks because of that so now this is what the Knicks need to do.
