If we’re going youth with the roster I wouldn’t mind going into the college b-ball game looking for a coach...

Most ideal candidate for me would be Jay Wright.

This is the only change that would really make a difference. A new coach, a new front office...won't make a difference. It will be the same **** in a new package. Dolan is the real problem. Always has been and always will be.

im not sure where its been discussed but ill guess in this thread

Im living on the west coast now so I was late to see the press conference last night

I have to say after watching it I think it was a shameful piece of theater

so they come out to say the effort is unacceptable and let the fans know they expect more.
then they take questions
and have nothing to say?

no were not looking to make changes, no were not judging by record, no news, nothing

is this just a public chastisement of the team and coach? to who's benefit?
its an extraordinary move that actually meant nothing

Im guessing they got an earful from Dolan and then they called an impromptu press conference without realizing they had nothing to tell the press besides that they were unhappy so they opened up for questions and it went flat

a$$ covering IMO

We haven't had a forward-thinking front office that truly embraces analytics and understands how the way the game is played today in a very long time. The closest we got to that was when Donnie Walsh hired Mike D'Antoni - who in retrospect was underappreciated and probably overachieved aside from his final season as head coach - and when Mike Woodson had Melo playing the 4 and the team firing threes all day. We've been stuck in the middle ages ever since. Basketball conservatives have been running this franchise for a half-decade now.

All this old-school talk about toughness, effort and culture is pointless if Steve Mills and Scott Perry can't put a roster together because they don't understand that without 3-point shooting and guard play you can't survive in the modern NBA. When Scott Perry dismissed analytics as just a "tool in the toolbox" in an interview for MSG, I was like "uh-oh", this guy is not ahead of the curve. And this summer would tend to confirm this intuition.

We're a decrepit franchise.

Yep. They want to win now and he’ll help do that.

How will M.Jackson help them win now exactly? Is he coming with his GSW roster he had?

They shouldn't fire anyone during the season. Just wait until the end of the season and clean house.

Honestly this team is at the point where they need an established stabilizer at coach. I've never been a fan of hires like this one but hiring JVG makes a ton of sense. Will have this team disciplined, playing defense and will have some semblance of culture. He's the one guy with an established baseline of NBA knowledge that we know would want the job 100%. Have him teach these young guys fundamentals and get them functioning within a high effort no BS ecosystem and then let him go for the hot coaching name when his act runs it's course.

Dakomish you can't constantly call for the blaze of fire of the front office and then be in this thread actually defending Mark Jackson. I won't let you do it to yourself

the trouble with Masai, and really the only trouble, is that it'll cost us like a player trade

were gonna have to send at least a pick

and not a 2nd rounder

it might cost us two picks

still, Id be happy to have a real executive here again

The Cavs look like they made a good choice in that Michigan coach.

you want to watch this type of basketball all season? fiz will play vets heavy minutes to try and salvage his job. Guys like knox and trier are already not truly being developed. if were going to make a move we might as well make it sooner than later

The problem ain't per se Dolan, it's Dolan's people and him not cleaning house, Mills and everyone attached to his persona need to go, Perry may be fine as a executive but he can't be at the helm considering some of his obvious biases

Fiz is terrible, no question, but the issue isn't only him, the first one to go has to be Mills

Most likely Fiz goes, Mills stays til at least June and **** some stuff before he hits the door, Perry stays and maybe get promoted and build his own thing, probably with Mark Jackson (another terrible coach)
