New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu suffered a high-grade UCL tear on her right, shooting hand during Game 4 of the WNBA Finals, a source familiar with the situation told ESPN on Thursday.

Ionescu, who helped guide the Liberty to their first WNBA championship earlier this month, will be reevaluated in four weeks and is expected to make a full recovery.

So this explains some stuff...

Doesn't explain her selfishness... if you're hand is hurt that badly, don't take 19 shots and damn near miss all of them. Liberty should have lost that final game but they got bailed out. Sabrina was uber selfish in the final two games. At least Stewart played elite defense when her shot wasn't falling. Sabrina should just have been a decoy and set-up PG for the final two games. Instead, she went into hero mode and it almost tanked the season.

To her credit, she did fill out the rest of the stat sheet. It's enough to get assists in Brondello's motionless offense, but to do it when no threes aren't falling is incredibly tough.

Honestly, I have no clue how Sabrina played through the torn UCL. I tore mine in a men's league a while back, and it's not too painful to play through. But you CAN'T use your thumb...The first test for my UCL was basically "can you hold this popsicle stick between your index finger and thumb" and I couldn't.

It was just impossible to control the basketball, whether you're dribbling or shooting. It's not too bad pain-wise, but it's frustrating as hell. Recovery was pretty fast and easy at least.

You couldn't even tell that she was laboring with how she stayed aggressive. What a tough gal
