… Mikal did do a good job on Hali

But he’s basically not even an offensive weapon

Strick wrote:KAT looks like the odd man out. He’s an amazing talent and one of the best offensive bigs in the league without a doubt. He provided some wild performances, including him willing us to a win in this series

That being said it is VERY tough to defend with him and Brunson out there. Pacers exposed it to the point it couldn’t be masked

It will be interesting to see the haul. Leon has made some really good moves in his tenure so hopefully he can make another. The hit piece being dropped hopefully doesn’t hurt his trade value since it makes it more obvious we will be at the very least open to moving him

Pacers weren't the only team to expose the duo of Brunson and KAT's defense. Boston did the same sh.it.

I'd keep OG. You gotta let a player grow into their role. I think he'll get better next season. I trust he'd work on improving his game in the offseason. He just seems like the type.

Afraid of contact because he thinks it will cause him to break his streak of active games played.

You focus on only KAT and ignore the bad output of OG and Mikal and it isn’t honest

It's always a mix of factors.

Brunson's poor defense, KAT's poor defense, the lack of reliable 3-point shooting from the wings, the lack of playmaking across the roster, Mikal being awful offensively and a non difference-maker on defense, Mitch's offensive limitations, Thibs' coaching in key moments...

They all factored into the final outcome. It's not about just one of those things.

EPM suggests KAT was our best player in the regular season and playoffs, above even Brunson. He finished the postseason with the highest +/- and the second-highest net rating among the starters. You can't reconcile the data with the idea that he was our biggest problem.

Not about his game. I thought his offensive ability grew. I'm talking about his injuries and are we gambling that he comes back next season to play 70+ games?

This was a fun season, one of the most fun I can remember in decades. Each player has imperfections, and I take major issues with the coaching, but remember some of the big wins? That’s the stuff I will never forget.

I am fortunate that in my 30 years as a Knick fan, I’ve been able to let the disappointing memories fall to the back of my mind while the amazing ones stick…and this season had a lot of them.

See y’all in October-ish. It was a good fun, but frankly, we met a team that literally has all the right stuff to beat us..and DESPITE THAT, if Game 1 had gone just one or two free throws different, we could have had them.

I love this team, even on nights where it’s hard to.

Nullifies the fair points on KAT

Ever play a pick up game where you're the only one playing smart D? But you'll know it'll be over after 1 game. Take that frustrated feeling and multiple that by 70-something games. It's exhausting. Mikal and OJ are exhausted.

I think that’s not 100% true

Delon and Shamet (in far smaller stretches) played more noticeably impactful defense

In a vacuum, sure. But they have the benefit to play more physical because they aren't playing 30+ minutes.

I’m the opposite.

Sell high on an often injured streaky player making $40 million.

I like OG but we can find players like him for less money.

Yeah, I said it.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

That’s bold underline then, those numbers on KAT

So one way to look at it is JB and KAT need more versatile, athletic and dynamic supporting players — and I just have major doubts that MB and OG are close to filling those needs

Yes. If you believe in this medical staff, I'm not worried about OG like we were last season.

I hate the age but I can see the argument.

He will definitely create more shots for others than Towns.

After those two though, not sure if there’s any fit. Would be someone unexpected.

I think we might have more options than just Giannis and KD. According to shams, this off season might be the craziest in years.

KAT is a solid player, but his flaws are just too much to overcome to win a chip. That's exactly why Minny moved him even after reaching the WCF, and they had no problem getting back there without him.

My only fear is getting a return that takes us a step back. Even with that, we had a strong shot at the finals this year, with a few adjustments, we can make it work. But it is a big risk either way. He did look bad defensively today and it cost us, along with the turnovers. Thats what started their run, those 2 open 3s.
