That MPJ for Cam Johnson trade is a good one for Denver. With all the picks we gave the Nets, we should have gotten both Mikal and Cam salaries in the trade notwithstanding.

Lakers traded picks for him less than a year ago to watch him walk

The front office doesn't have Woj anymore, and they aren't going to give Shams anything.

caught up to the news from last night.
Incredible deals for Denver. I like Cam more than MPJ and they shed salary big time.
Also Bruce Brown back for the minimum is huge. Was worth the unprotected future first.

Yeah the Bridges trade was a vast overpay but again: Cam Johnson makes 23mill. a year......what salary would you have sent out to get Johnson back? We only had that Bogdanovic expiring...every other big salary would have us sent out Hart, Brunson, OG, Randle or DD at that point.....which would have been another downgrade. What you are suggesting would not have been possible or it would have been a further downgrade. The mistake in the Bridges trade was not the salary or contract allocation but rather the amount of picks...if the price was reasonable, which meant 2-3 picks for Mikal we would all be happy right now. But because we vastly overpaid the trade remains bitter-sweet at best....

The trade is 100% understandable from both perspectives. Denver is essentially trying everything they can do to put Jokic in a title contending position. Today they are better than 24 hours ago. They replaced MPJ with Johnson and Brown.

Murray, Braun, Brown, Johnson, Gordon, Jokic is nice but that team needs more depth. Like at least another 1-2 players. Keep in mind that it seems they are in the process of losing Westbrook, who despite his many flaws did contribute to them.

I feel we are witnessing the big problem with the KAT contract. At this point you really can't have any overpaid contracts on your salary without some immediate punishment. KAT at 55mill. is overpaid by somewhere between 12-15mill. which has essentially cost us another strong bench contributor in the DFS class of players.

I'm still hoping against all hope that there is some opening for Giannis because that KAT contract is a big detriment to team building. He effectively makes 20mill. more than Brunson per year.

Bridges really shouldn't be getting more than 30mill. a year but he has all the leverage and is likely to get more....

Knicks had to pay the Knicks tax in acquiring Mikal

for any other team, it would have likely taken 2 to 4 picks to get him

for the Knicks it was 5 picks, especially because they knew we wanted to re-unite him with his Villanova bros and Nets likely suspected some tampering the entire time Mikal was on the Nets and Jalen, Josh, and DDV were on the Knicks

You pretty much said it before me. Can’t have all these big contacts need role players and the big contract guys taking up a lot. That’s why we can’t have good bench players even with Brunson pay cut. Biggest problem is they have big contracts but produce like role players.
