Nobody is going to take Amar'e or Bargnani off our hands, so lets forget about dealing them. The player who we CAN move, is Chandler. I've been saying deal him since the draft last offseason, and I'm a big fan of Chandler's. He is the sole reason Amar'e/Melo hasn't worked. Our spacing has been terrible with Stat or Bargs on the court at the same time with Chandler. Both Stat/Bargs need to be the primary pick n roll/pop bigs, and Chandler's ineptitude on the offense end allows his man to play off of him.

Deal Chandler!

You can go a few different routes while shopping Chandler, but I think the best move is to send him in a deal that sheds the future salaries of JR Smith and Felton.

Proposal...

NYK Trade: Tyson Chandler - Raymond Felton - JR Smith
NYK Receive: Ramon Sessions - Josh McRoberts - Ben Gordon

CHA Trade: Ramon Sessions - Josh McRoberts - Ben Gordon
CHA Receive: Tyson Chandler - Raymond Felton - JR Smith

Why for NY? - We become much more flexible in the cap for a very talented 2015 FA Class. Yes we lose our defensive anchor, but we can finally build some chemistry on the court. Moving Tyson open's not just the spacing on the court, but actually a void in the roster that allows a young guy like Tyler, who has looked very good thus far, an opportunity to step up. Sessions is an upgrade over Felton and won't cost us a future 1st like Lowry would. McRoberts is a highly skilled big who is an excellent passer and who will quickly become Melo's best friend with his willingness to defer. Gordon is a NY kid, and I can see him helping a player out like a Tim Hardaway Jr, and contribute in brief spurts when his number is called.

Why for CHA? - They are really making some strides this year, currently 2 games ahead of the Knicks. Steve Clifford has done a tremendous job since taking over. Both Felton and Chandler have played for the organization, both bring their own type of veteran leadership and fill some needs. Chandler would most definitely help along the progression of Bismack Biyombo and even a MKG to an extent, all while helping change the culture by contributing in a playoff run. JR Smith would be an interesting piece moving back in this deal. He's been playing much better of late, maybe getting back into game shape and not worrying about his knee. He gives the Bobcats what Gordon was with Bulls, let alone what they hoped for him to be when they traded for him from Detroit.

So the one actual Amar'e trade WE wouldn't want to make, is the one you comment on? Why would we bring Josh Smith into this circus right now and destroy all thoughts of cap flexibility for his Shaqtin a Fool ass?

If you are talking trading Chandler I think you need to look at the teams that may have a need for him and who is looking to shake things up and make a move (a Chandler trade is not a small deal).

So teams that have been rumored to be buyers and/or looking to shake it up are?

Charlotte - Bobcats are looking better than anyone ever expected and can cement a playoff birth and possibly move up further to avoid a 1st round matchup of death with Miami or Indy. MJ is a competitive **** and you know he wants to win. Steve Clifford is, at his core, a defensive philosophied coach. Would they view an offensive/defensive combo of Al Jefferson (who can move back to his natural PF position) and Chandler as a potential big deal, especially come playoff time? They have Biyombo and Zeller...and either may be included in a package back to the Knicks.

Will continue with other teams when I get in the office.

Al Jefferson's natural position is C. That's where he spent 80% of the time in his NBA career. He's too slow to guard PF's. And so is Tyson.

Well that sucks no? But they may be able to live with Jefferson on PF's with Chandler in the paint. Same with what the Knicks were planning with Stoudemire (who's also obviously no defensive whiz).

At this point --- the only trade ideas I'd be really excited about are ones that say we are starting all over and don't include Maxing out Melo.

The guy has played well and hard but man I don't want to see Melo breaking down at 32, 33, 34, 35, 36.

I just can't bare the thought of sinking all those $$$ into 5 more years of torture.

There's no way we keep THJ with all that.

With the rumors of Woodson being fired before the trade deadline. I suspect the Knicks are looking to trade for Josh Smith.

Woodson and Josh Smith don't get along. Otherwise I see no point in firing the coach.

Would you consider or think it is possible that Houston is a good trade partner? They will likely not want to pay either Lin or Asik. They also are said to want a stretch 4. If we gave them Bargnani and Felton they save a ton next year. We get two more huge expiring 2015 contracts at only a high financial price.

It hurts them to lose Lin this season but they have other guys. Trade works with Smith too.

Plus if we trade for Asik we have a center if we move Chandler. So...that sets up another trade for maybe a pick or young player.

I still like Smith to Sac for Thornton and Jimmer.

That leaves Shumpert as the only guy we need to move for max 2015 space who we could probably send for just a pick our include in the Houston trade for a pick.

Ugly team left over depending what we get for Chandler but it is now too.

I just want to trade Felton for anything. 2nd rounder, whatever.

Get rid of him at all costs. Never want to see his cross-eyed squirrel face on the court for us ever again.
