IAN MAHINMI

Could have gone a lot of ways but hard to pass up a super athletic 23 year old 6'11" C whose body is elite and whose game is evolving (honestly, in that SL pic he almost looks like Dwight Howard doesn't he?).

The Miami Heat is thrilled to add Ian Mahinmi to it's potent roster. An ultra athletic and physically gifted center, we will look for Ian to contribute on the defensive end as part of a rather nasty (for the other team) front court trio with Ibaka and Ben Wallace...Ian will be asked to help with blocking shots, rebounding (especially on the offensive end), defending the pick and roll, doing his best to outleap and put the ball back in the basket off of misses...and finish plays. He'll be a part of an interior defense that will make it extremely difficult for teams to score in the paint.

We also look forward to him learning from Ben Wallace and for Serge and Ian to lead us into a extremely bright future at the center position.

While he has had limited action in the NBA, Mahinmi played more significant minutes in the NBDL, finishing the season third in the league in PER, top-10 in rebounds and blocks per game, fourth in effective field goal percentage, second in True Shooting percentage, second in Win Shares, and a first-team All D-League honoree. Basically, Mahinmi is what almost every team is looking for in the draft this June: an active, productive young big man...and here we were lucky enough for him to land in our lap in the 9th round.

With the 259th pick in the Build-a-Team 4.0 draft, the San Antonio Spurs select 6'3 PG, Ramon Sessions. We love what Sessions will bring to our team off the bench backing up Westbrook. A poor mans Andre Miller, the Spurs feel that Sessions will be an ideal distrubutor playing with KMart and Crawford in our second unit. We feel that Sessions is the best talent left on the board and fills a need for our roster.

The San Antonio Spurs welcome PG Ramon Sessions.
